Beyond the clouds, across the oceans in a far far land there is a country where life is surreal and people are vivacious. They have superheroes that fly, climb the skyscrapers and save the world from the alien attacks. The women of this country are liberal and the sex is free. Black or white. Asian or Russian. Everyone loves everyone. People are happy and non-judgmental. And moreover everyone is rich. That's the picture of United States of America you paint in your mind when you think of it from rural towns and villages of second and third world countries. Golu, 27, boy, a college dropout from Dharbanga Bihar, an underdeveloped state in northern India, Lulu, 23 girl from bucolic and isolated mountains of Yiehezhuang China and Shehu, 26, boy from Lagos, the only developed state of a destitute country Nigeria have only one dream - To be a part of the great American dream. To live life like Americans. To become American. But to do that lawfully is beyond their abilities. So what do they do? They take the illegal course through their respective agents and land in Ecuador; A small country in north-western South America where there are already a few more like them waiting. They too have the same aspirations and the same status. Thus from here their journey will also be the same. And so will be their destiny. The land distance of US from Ecuador is deadly 8000 km across eight countries. And this is exactly how much this group of ten has to travel mostly on foot and rarely on boats and in ambulances. They have to escape borders, jungles, rivers and even the mafia lands to reach the country of their dreams. Are they prepared for it? Will every fatal situation they are about to go through from here be worth it when they reach their dreamland? Is there actually a dreamland? Isn't it that happiness we go in search of leaving our homes behind is an illusion and in fact our home is the happiest place on earth? Will they survive to realize this? Through Golu, Lulu and Shehu BORDERS WITHOUT LIFE is a story of many such people who run for the better world instead of turning the world around them better. They immolate happiness for the misconception. Many die on this deadly walk of 8000 km crossing 8 countries. Many who survive live with the scars on their souls for the rest of their lives. They lose trust in humanity. They have seen humanity turn animalistic.- Kushal Ved Bakshi
