February's Dog

February's Dog is so very, very good. Extremely hard hitting, relatable and relevant. Especially having been through down turns and more recently covid. The team involved from writers, to producers to artists (and everyone else involved) have all done an awesome job with this film. EPIC!

The casting is solid with each artist playing their character superbly.

Chinook is a pleasure to watch. Having such a heavy hand in this production you can see the passion ooze from him; and influence his fellow cast.

If you only see one new film this year, make it February's Dog. You will not be disappointed!

This film offers a raw and empathetic look into the lives of Oilfield workers in Alberta suddenly cast adrift by unemployment (due to government policy and market commodity prices). As each character confronts anxiety, depression, and a growing sense of isolation, the story captures the emotional weight of losing not just a job, but identity and family/community. The performances are understated yet powerful, grounding the narrative in realism. Not a feel-good film but an uncomfortable reality faced by many in silence. This film gives a voice and a perspective to those who may be too proud to share. A quiet, affecting piece that stays with you.
