Early in the movie, Katie runs upstairs into her room and climbs into bed. Her mother follows to check on her, and leaves the bedroom door open when she leaves. When she goes back downstairs, old family friends immediately appear at their front door. Emilia, Katie's childhood friend, then goes upstairs to visit Katie. At that point the bedroom door is closed. Katie appears too traumatized to have gotten out of bed to close the door herself.
