I went into this out of morbid curiosity

This was always going to be rubbish. I can't believe they got this film funded.

I'd rather watch paint dry than ever see this again, and I truly mean that.

    Less would've been better.

The film was actually good, but easily would've been better if:

A - The entire Sub-Plot of the police chase and Irish bomber was completely scrapped

B - Those animated deus ex machina scenes were all cut; these just sucked you right out of the film every time

Trim out those 15 minutes and it would've been a really good story about Nan's life. Instead, we get that but it's split up with a completely pointless sub-plot.

    NOT one of the best

Typical Catherine Tate cheesy, some good parts but didn't do it for me.

Wouldn't rush to watch anything else with Catherine Tate it.

Acting poor by two main characters.

A few laughs but a pretty poor translation to the big screen

I always thought the Katherine Tate show was pretty funny and hoped this might have a good funny script, sadly this came up very short.

There are a few laughs asking the way but most of it is cringe worthy and extremely cliche.

    Disappointing

The film was slated for release pre-pandemic, and as a fan of the Nan character I had been very much looking forward to watching this. I was very disappointed. The various scenes did not flow, and the overall story was very weak.

Wait for it to come to a streaming platform before you maybe watch it.

    • Trivia
The first cut of the film was delivered to investors in 2019. It originally consisted predominantly of scenes set in 1940s London focusing on a young Joan Taylor. The investors were uncomfortable with the film's focus on World War 2, and insisted the flashback sequences be cut back significantly to accommodate much more of the present-day plot with the elderly Joan Taylor, whom fans of The Catherine Tate Show would recognize. New footage, greatly expanding the modern-day road trip sections, was filmed without director Josie Rourke at a low-cost, with animation sequences also used to fill any gaps. As a result of these additions, Rourke had her director's credit removed, and the released cut of the film simply does not have a director credit.
    • Goofs
When Walter is sent to France he is depicted at a station with LNER signage. This is incorrect if he is leaving London to go to France since the LNER ran north out of London. The most likely way to get to the south coast ports would be on the Southern Railway or, less likely, on the GWR to Weymouth or Plymouth.
