Miracle at St. Anna (2008)

Trivia

Miracle at St. Anna

Edit
Samuel L. Jackson turned down the offer to play as Corporal Hector Negron to work on Lakeview Terrace (2008).
Wesley Snipes was originally cast in the film, but was forced to drop out due to pending tax-evasion charges.
Naomi Campbell was originally cast in the film, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
The P08 Luger handed over by the German officer saying "Protect Yourself" to the injured soldier is actually an original Luger but reworked post ww2 VOPO (Volks Polezi) you can tell by the grips that are installed on the pistol.
In Italy the movie was harshly criticized by ANPI (the Italian National Partisan Association) for representing the mass slaughter of Sant'Anna di Stazema as if it was a collateral damage in the hunt for partisans, while historians agree it was indeed a planned and deliberate attack on the civilian population to try and cut the provisions for the partisans themselves. Eventually, Italian President Giorgio Napolitano solved the matter giving his personal approval to the movie. In the Italian version, however, a disclaimer appears at the beginning of the movie clarifying that the circumstances of the slaughter as seen in the film are a fictionalized version of a real historical event, and proceeds to explain the actual happening.
