Mags and Julie Go on a Road Trip. (2020)
Mags and Julie Go On A Road Trip is a heartfelt, laugh out loud road trip buddy movie, written, produced and directed by Ryann Liebl, actress and founder of REL Productions. Two best friends go on a road trip and get more than they bargained for...a comedy about friendship, life and finding your way. This laugh out loud movie has been compared to "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" and the Lampoon/Vacation movies. It's a punchy comedy with heart.

    Very funny

This film has a great story behind the scenes. Female directed, written and produced. It's funny, touching and heartwarming. Reminded me of "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" appreciated it especially after the drama of 2020. Worth watching this Independent film!!!

    Mess

Comedy but not fun, poor acting, no memory point of this movie. Just a mess for two people in this trip. A mess is fine but be funny please

    A Real Trip Worth Seeing

It's no secret this film is a trip (it says so right there in the title), but the journey it takes you on is full of surprises! When Mags learns about her unexpected inheritance, a cabin in the Northwoods, her best friend Julie insists she escape her demanding boss and thankless job to check it out. Working nonstop the entire road trip, Mags reluctantly discovers how much her job has changed her life when Julie finally unloads some painful truths. Then, only after she takes the ultimate risk, does Mags learn the true value of friendships and pursue her dreams. Showcasing Wisconsin's vibrant urban settings and natural wonders along the way, "Mags and Julie Go On a Road Trip" tells the story of a woman who had to get lost to find herself, and that's a story we can all relate to these days.

Yes, this is in Milwaukee - But, no, it's not Laverne & Shirley

This flick is truly a dud; open a dictionary, look up "dud", and there this movie will be.

The two supposed gal pals are not witty, not funny, not even likeable.

It appears that the gal pals were asked to do a lot of ad libbing - here's the setup, do something, roll the camera - and, generally, they let the camera roll way too long on any given scene setup. Consequently, the pace of this thing has the consistency of a slow mud slide.

There's a lot of borrowing from other things, like a bad boss/overburdened underling scenario recalling the Devil Wears Prada - altho once you recall and compare the actia; DWP/MerylStreep/Anne Hathaway prototype to what this crowd does w. The same setup, you'll just want to turn if off and put them out of their misery.

    Poor Milwaukee. :-) lol.

    I tried.

Poor production value doesn't bother me on an independent film, but the acting was across the board terrible. Doing everything (acting + writing + directing) isn't for everyone. I couldn't make it all the way through. Painfully bad; acting is at once over the top as well as stilted. I love independent films (especially when focused on women characters) having a larger audience, such as on Prime, but this lack of quality will keep the big streamers from giving artists a chance. The Incredible Jessica James is a good example of the right way to do it. You dont have to have big names, but you do have to have talent.
