Actresses Yen Ly and Yvonne Truong previously played mother-and-daughter, respectively, in the short film My Den (2006).
In Xuan's first scene a the reflection of a bounce board and the cameraman can be seen in the rear taillights.
Nanrissa Lee, playing the older sister Xuan, was the only non-Vietnamese (background and race) actress of the Do family. The movie was filmed entirely in San Jose, California. "All About Dad", the most successful feature film coming out of San José State University film school, won 6 international awards on the film festival circuit and made the U.S. Top Twenty list of Best Asian American films in 2009. Only non-professional actor casted, Chi Pham (Dad) made his historic debut with "All About Dad" successfully with debut young director Mark Tran. With Minh Do (older brother Dinh of 'All About Dad'), they also successfully reunited for the short one-and-a-half minute long contest entry "So mad AMC" in 2012.
Chi Pham (Dad) and Yen Ly (Mom) later played also the parents of Viette, the main protagonist in the Asian American 2012 drama feature "Viette," by Vietnamese-American actress Mye Hoang who wrote, directed and also co-produced her auto-biograohic film. A true feast and quite a culturally poignant independent film made in California.
