I don't have any major gripes about the movie from my own personal taste. But I can see how the movie is so strange and has so much going on, that it could lose the a lot of people before each plot thread ties in together. And believe me, everything does tie in at the end, but I can see how the movie could potentially lose someone before then.
As for me, I thought this was the best film of the festival I saw it at. And that says a lot.
I have nothing bad to say about the movie and it is sure to be a cult classic. I hope so, anyway. In an oversaturated film market, I can imagine it would be difficult to get your work seen, but honestly this is such a weird movie that I think it'll stand out enough to be seen. Hope to see more from Mr Badon.
I saw this film yesterday and had to sit and let it marinate in my mind for a bit before I said too much too soon. Then went back and rewatched it to make sure I meant what I wanted to say. This movie is absolutely beautiful, in the strangest of ways. As the other review stated, it's a brain-melting film. But it's perfect. There's no such thing as a "perfect" film. But it's perfect TO ME. From the atmosphere, to the set locations, to the direction, cinematography, the editing (good lord, the editing in this film), it's everything I wanted and more when I saw the trailer. First few minutes make you think it'll be an anthology film, which at first I was like "ah, ok, well I guess that lends itself to do some cool stuff without being tied down by a narrative" but then the movie kept going, and I realized "no, everything has meaning and purpose. Nothing here was accidental." And by the end, I was truly wowed, moved, and mesmerized. This is a film that I want to STUDY. When this thing comes out on dvd and blu-ray, I hope it comes with a directors commentary to explain everything in great detail. From set designs, to deeper meanings, Easter eggs, everything. This is the type of film that makes me want to make films. 2020 has been a slow year for films (for obvious reasons), but this one made it worth it. Joe Badon is showing the big Hollywood directors how it's done.
No fluff, just art.
Everyone did great.
Lots of good work put in for such a small budget.
I was highly impressed.
Great job, everyone.
The movie has elements of horror, comedy, dark comedy, mystery, sci-fi, music, and all far a low budget. This is what filmmaking is about, practical sets and costumes! Going against the grain and trying to make something new and exciting! This is why we watch movies, this is why film festivals exist; to give the little guys and girls a chance to show us all why they're made of. This is an imaginative movie that begs to be watched again and again.
