I like Niecy Nash as much as the next person. She really does give a good performance in this role. But a great actress does not makeup for a terrible story. They have taken that Chris Rock joke and turn it into an entire movie. Chris Rock once told a joke about the family member who molests you - but pays your way through college. THAT's what Lifetime has done with this heinous KIDNAPPER in trying to tell us a sympathetic story from her perspective. No amount of trips to Disneyland with a nice soundtrack can make up for the horrific crime she committed. And yet that's exactly what Lifetime wants you to believe. So why not go out and kidnap somebody else's child so you too can have the baby you want? This is horrible on so many levels.
Not easy to watch if you're a mother. Touching from the start. Neicey Nash is an excellent actress.
Kudos to Lifetime for making an African American true life story showing all the imperfections. This is not a buppie version of an abducted child story. The characters have real problems and including jail and abuse etc. The kidnapper isn't a sympathetic character.
Despite finding out the truth the girl in question loves her kidnapper mom more than her birth mom who she doesn't know at all.
One fault is the way the revelation came out. And the flashbacks to the trial were confusing and distracting.

It was a great story.Acting was good. Just put together BAD. Complete sceans should have been cut. They didn't add to the story were left in.
