    More strange occurrences.

Joe receives an unexpected visitor, and another miracle happens on the island.

The intrigue and suspense is definitely starting to grow, strange things are happening on the island, and things seem to be changing quickly, is there some strange force on the island, it's wonderfully interesting.

The standout for me once again is Hamish Linklater, Father Paul is such a fascinating character, Hamish really does hold the screen, he's terrific.

Many excellent scenes here, I think perhaps the moment where Leeza confronts Joe was one of the best, it was such an uncomfortable moment, very well acted.

    8/10.

Scene that will make you ugly cry

I've watched this series all the way through several times over, at this point, and this episode, here, and the exchange between Leeza and Joe.... is the white-hot, blistering emotional center of this story. The sharp, perfect distillation of the theme. There are other events and moments which are obviously more of the conventionally literary narrative climax, but this is the good stuff. Robert Longstreet will tear your heart out of your chest and stomp it into the ground with his reaction to Leeza's dialogue. You will crawl into his skin and live those moments with him.

This series will pay you back in abundance for going along for the ride.

You reached through time and you stole.

Wow. This was the best episode thus far. It still follows in the footsteps of the first two episodes with the slow burn approach but we get some truly amazing scenes and performances. Linklater and Cymone steal the show. The reveal at the end of the episode is awesome. I love how Flanagan is consistently exploring different types of horror in his work but keeps it grounded with the human experience.

For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

Finally some answers, the pace is picking up. Best episode of the series, up till now, which is good, considering this nearly the halfway point. The scene in the school, with the parents was clunky and ham-handed. We get it, no need to further zealot'ize Bev, although it sets up good commentary between the Sheriff and his son. The final 10-15 minutes is a trip.

Father Paul: The conversion of Saul took place on the road to Damascus. Saul was a persecutor of Christians, an enemy of the Church, heading to Damascus to round up believers, take them prisoner. But as you know, as he neared Damascus, he saw a light so bright it knocked him to the ground. And he was blinded. And then Jesus spoke to him. Days later the scales fell from his eyes and Saul became a follower of Christ and then became the Apostle Paul. It was on this same road outside the city that Monsignor Pruitt, bewildered and confused, wandered from his tour group for the last time. They must not have noticed he was missing. First his failing mind didn't help him, and out he wandered, out into that desert. No, Monsignor... Lost, confused, lost in the world, lost in his mind, separated from his group, certain to de out there in that desert, on the road to Damascus, when a horrible sandstorm overtook him. There had been, recently, horrible storms in that area. He'd heard this. These astonishing storms, seismic storms. Storms that had, he'd heard, even unearthed ancient ruins in the desert, that churned the ground, stirred the earth, and pulled from it the mouths of structures and buildings from long ago. Ruins long sealed in the earth. And so as Monsignor Pruitt wandered, lost in the storm, the sand scratching his eyes, cutting into his face, he saw before him, there was a darkness in the dunes. Mouth of a cave, perhaps. A door to some ancient ruin. And his failing mind only sought shelter, so in he went, eagerly into the darkness of the thing. The cave-like entrance that had just opened up in front of him. Until all light went...
