It was my first kdrama and I am happy that I chose this as my starting point, it sold me dead.... The story line was good, rain was good, the female actor was also so good but the only problem I have is I think the ending was rushed a little.
Welcome 2 Life is this rom-com detective fusion K-pop Drama which was honestly just amazing in so many ways.
I just made an IMDB account and am writing this review solely because I think it deserves alot more credit for how excellent it is, I normally do not write reviews.
This was my first ever K-pop series and I am honestly stunned by how well made it is, It entails the story of the Protagonist "Lee Jae-Sang" played by Rain as (initially) a corrupt lawyer who enters a parallel dimension after an accident where he finds himself living a completely different life married with a kid. Eventually this causes major character transformation which leads to his redemption arc.
The film brings into question of whether one should if given the opportunity of start their life over, and if people truly change.
Plot was generally really good and meticulously constructed with some really heavy emotional scenes and some brilliant plot twists. It took me on this emotional roller coaster and I loved it. However it did seldom have a few predictable scenarios, did feel lightly repetitive in some instances and in terms of pacing was generally nice but slightly dragged out a bit towards the end. Also, while the ending after the final resolution of conflict was alright I think it could have used a bit more time to be more satisfying. Notably, the plot didn't focus to much on working behind the sci-fi parallel universe element but rather on it's ramifications which I would say was indeed the way to go. All in all, the plot was still phenomenal and I think it is really nice and respectable that unlike most Hollywood TV shows this drama just has 1 season that is well crafted rather than a splattering of weakly made seasons.
Actors Lim Ji-Yeon,Kwak Si-Yang, Rain, Shin Jae-Ha, Park Won-Sang and the rest of the team honestly just killed it in the acting game, their performance was remarkable and I just could not get enough of their acting. Rain and Lim Ji-Yeon had such a dynamic chemistry with their relationship and the antagonists of this show were just so bone chillingly cold and malicious which really spiced the show up and intensified the climaxes of conflict.
The OST was also beautiful and really complemented the emotional scenes fabulously. Camera work and angles was satisfactory and the editing was good but I wasn't entirely a fan of the few minutes they spent on recap in the beginning of each episode because it was repetitive for my binging sessions. Action scenes were pretty good too however just a disclaimer that the show does have some infrequent gore-ish scenes so it's probably not suitable for young children.
In closing, Welcome 2 life is nothing short of amazing due to it's meticulous plot, amazing cast and splendid OST albeit also with some few story-line and pacing issues. I would absolutely recommend everyone to see this, especially if you haven't given K-Pop a shot yet. Just see the first 4 episodes and you will see how amazing it is.

Welcome 2 Life on Viki is now one of my all time favorite dramas. My 9/10 rating reflects some flaws in the script, which were easy for me to overlook because of how brilliantly Rain and Lim Ji-yeon portray their respective ML and FL roles.
In this drama, Rain plays Lee Jae-sang, a corporate attorney who successfully represents evil-corporate-criminals. The only one willing to beat and chastise him over his ethically-compromised career choice is ex girlfriend Detective Ra Si-on played by Lim Ji-yeon (Obsessed.) She makes it clear that she'd rather see him dead than watching him defend the bad guys with such success. However, just when he decides to change his ways (for her), an attempt on his life and resultant coma opens a door to a parallel life where he finds himself the noble Prosecutor who's now married to Detective Ra and father to their adorable daughter Bo Na. The only things that survive from his old life are his memories and guilty conscience, which initially makes it difficult for him to understand the love and admiration Detective Ra-now-wife now feels for him. It makes for some very funny and endearing scenes when he first adjusts to his new life. Also, the evil characters and plots are eerily similar in both worlds, which makes solving these crimes alongside his now wife very interesting and entertaining.
Without giving too much away, he does end up waking up from his coma and is once again in his original life. This time, however, he has the memories of his other life that compel him to redeem himself with the old Detective Ra while now grieving the loss of her love for him and also no longer having their beloved Bo Na in his life. It's a brilliant story of one man's quest for redemption that takes him on a journey that is rife with obstacles and yearning that only experiencing an alternate life can bring.
For those like me who really don't like too much suspense and/or violence, if you carefully fast forward through the worst scenes, you can still get the gist of the plots and enjoy the best parts of this drama even more. (But, that's me. 😀 )

" Welcome 2 Life " had a good idea, but they didn't mushed up the two plots nicely.
First of all, although the idea of returning back to life is not original, they did a nice job with the whole building up a nice family atmosphere. The two leads had chemistry, to top it all, so their family dynamics were really good. They had some interesting cases too.
However, they lost the grip on the story flow and in the end it was awkward and it ruined the love story and, worst, the dynamics of the team. The performances, however, were pretty good.
So, overall, five out of ten.
