The fictional Strategic Response Unit (SRU) on this show is based on Toronto's Emergency Task Force (ETF) Unit. The ETF, like the SRU, is a Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) Team whose first goal is to talk down a situation before using tactical or lethal options.
The majority of the cast of the show are Canadians, with the exception of Amy Jo Johnson, who is the only American actress starring in the Canadian-made drama.
Enrico Colantoni (Sgt. Gregory Parker) did the show because his older brother was a 30-year veteran of the Toronto Police, in fact, he asked for his character to have the same badge number as his brother.
In Police Tactical circles, the methodology to clearing a house or room, breaks down as follows: The main entrance is designated number 1. The other sides of the house are label 2,3, 4, etc. in a clockwise manner. The corners where the sides meet are indicated by designated numbers joined by a forward slash in the middle ex: 1/2, 2/3, 3/4 etc.
