    Eight balls

An easy transition from the first episode; evolving Daphne's storyline and giving some background on Simon. Though lovely costumes and great music, storyline wasn't very exiting or surprising.

    [7.4] Slowly, beautifully, uninterestingly

Episode 2: A good prolongation episode involving characters, having required development, moving the story forward, again beautiful setting, set-up, photography and filming. Things are beginning to shape up.

    Shock and Delight

Daphne has made an arrangement with Simon Basset that should bring her some attention with potential suitors.

However her brother Anthony has told Lord Berbrooke that he would be a good match for Daphne. Something she is not happy given that she has seen Berbrooke's true colours.

Now it is understandable that Anthony would not think Simon would be suitable for his sister. He is a reprobate, a cad and a scoundrel. Anthony has known Simon for years.

Flashbacks show Simon as a child and his relationship with his father. A childhood that left Simon emotionally damaged and bitter.

If Daphne thinks Simon is the one for her, she is going to be in for a shock.

Simon's backstory was a much needed device to flesh out his character. Berbrooke was appropriately devious, a cartoonish villain.

My wife has certainly enjoyed the first two episodes of Bridgerton. She only found out about it through word of mouth. Then told me to put it on for her.

    Double standard

Curiously the audience this show is intended for absolutely abhor privilege of any kind in reality. All I see is privilege - wealthy people doing nothing all day and dancing around a Champaign glass tower at a ball at night. Having status in real life is wrong but adored in Shondaland.

    • Trivia
Claudia Jessie was 30 during the filming and playing a character presumed to be half her age at the time.
    • Goofs
In one scene, Benedict and Eloise are sitting on swings, smoking cigarettes. The cigarettes look to be modern day cigarettes which could not be the case in the 1700s or even early 1800s. Cigarettes of that day were hand rolled. The cigarettes seen today came about in the 1880s in America.
    • Quotes

Eloise Bridgerton: How does a lady come to be with child?

Lady Violet Bridgerton: Eloise, what a question!

Eloise Bridgerton: I thought one needed to be married.

Daphne Bridgerton: What are you talking about?

Eloise Bridgerton: Apparently, it's not even a requirement.

Lady Violet Bridgerton: Eloise, that is enough!

      Daphne Bridgerton: Oh, well..

Lady Violet Bridgerton: Daphne, you were playing so lovely. Please do go on.
