    The New Partnership

West need to move in an urgent basis since he arrested his landlord selling drugs. Nolan teams up with the night detective Nick Armstrong and while patrolling the streets, they receive a dispatch call from a home invasion. When they find that the case is indeed a murder case, nick invites Nolan to help him to investigate the case. Nolan meets his former girlfriend Dr. Grace Sawyer and something rekindle with him.

"The Night General" is another pleasant episode of "The Rookie". The amazingly beautiful and sexy Ali Larter is a new arrival in the show and Nick Armstrong seems to be a promising character. My vote is eight.

Love Armstrong, Here for Lucy Chen and Tim Bradford

I love this new night detective character, Armstrong. Now that Bishop is gone, I hope he can stay on with Nolan because they get along really well. I loved how they worked this case together.

I've rewatched every single scene with Chen and Bradford a lotttt. Their chemistry is insane. Who sits down and records themselves reading an entire book? Lucy Chen, that's who. That boxing scene gave me full-body chills. Loved every second of it.

Best part of the episode? Chen and Bradford. No questions asked. I also really liked the dynamic of Armstrong and Nolan. I hope that continues. Alsooo, the song that plays at the end when Lucy offers Jackson her place is called HUMANS by The Faim and I've listened to it well over 10 times in the last 2 hours. Incredible song choice.

Worst part of the episode? I wasn't a fan of the Grace storyline. It felt like it came out of nowhere. I like how it ended (them not cheating on their partners with each other), so I guess that's good.

    One of the best episodes

I am enjoying this second series more than the first one, maybe because the characters are sort of well established and developing nicely. I am also glad that the sanctimonious Bishop character is out of the way, and Nolan is paired off with different characters with a different range of personalities.

Also, this episode presented a major ethical dilemma, concerning the father's responsibilities in sending his son to rehab with all the consequences. It was definitely tragic and a tad unbelievable, but handled in a decent way. Life sometimes offers no good choices but only "less bad" ones.

The chemistry between Chen and Bradford is working very well, I see them as a couple, but probably it won't happen. The only negative part was Nolan's meeting with his ex, who's obviously extremely attractive and dangling like an irresistible temptation... although I think Nolan's current relationship does not really work, both because the actors have zero chemistry and in the fiction their characters don't work together: she's too smug and he's too soft.

    Oh dear, poor Nathan!

I absolutely adore Nathan Fillion!!!! Why can't he find a show with good writers? Castle was goodish, then they went off the rails, now this disaster! This series started off fantastic, I was so happy to Nathan on tv again, as I said I love him! He's funny and a damn good actor! He checks many boxes for me all round! This new show of his is getting very dark however. It's too dark and should lighten up a little bit. People are tuning in to see Nathan and watch the character development of the others. They are really great group. The only problem is the writers. I'm predicting there will be one more season then it will be cancelled. People are tuning in for some light hearted with a touch of serious, not absolutely misery like this episode was. Sorry Nathan! This is not about you, it's about the writers.
