The set-up show for Progress's Brixton debut - I really must assert that unlike the bombardment of speech/noise/hype from people like Andy Quildan, I am a fan of Progress's commentary team in that they're more conversant, and not overpowering the action w/ their vociferous slop. It's late August '16, and the fans are relatively muted upon Tyler Bate's introduction. Does this mean he's not over, he's unfamiliar to the crowd, and/or the fans inside the Ballroom are not as well attuned to folks whose body of work has occured outside of London? IDK. Good opener focusing on the strengths of the heels to bully/grind their opponents down. N Newell is, to me, a less trashy/wild but also less charismatically sexy Mary Dobson. I've seen her work in WCPW/Fight Club Pro among others, and she's very hit/miss. I don't know Miss Windsor but her role was akin to a Melanie Cruise/Andrea: the larger 'carpenter' heel who puts over faces on the rise. The entertaining J Gallagher, and his vibe, evokes Patrick Macnee (J Steed) from The Avengers, or a less mojo-concerned A Powers. Z Gibson is becoming a lovely foil, and the third contest was played for laughs. The Atlas semi-final was short and served to continue 'The Origin's' recent difficulties. I haven't seen much M Whiplash, but based on this Progress run, I'm not sure I want to. Every company has someone who gets X-pac heat, and he's that guy. Speaking of 'those guys, ' Rampage is my UK's version of Ethan Page: a big, physical, unappealing lug who I rarely desire to see. He's a longtime pro, and I respect that, but I feel his in-ring is, as is stated in boxing, national and not international level. Although I'm not aware of why the Pastor is a hypocrite, the Sebastian angle was solid for a guy who needed sth after his shocking win, and then rapid loss, of the title. 17 min M Event, so it's not supposed to be a MOTYC, but these two are high-end pros who put forth a solid drama despite noone buying MA would win.
