Steve McQueen was a nominee for Best Actor in a Drama, with
Richard Attenborough winning the award for Best Supporting Actor, both for the film
The Sand Pebbles (1966), and with
James Garner,
James Coburn and
David McCallum all appearing as presenters--this reunion representing by far the greatest assembly of "Great Escape" actors apart from the original film.
