Jeffrey Rignall, a past victim, tries to bring Gacy to justice, but the killer's polished public persona fools everyone. An increasingly brazen Gacy kills again and begins dumping bodies in public.
Detectives finally investigate Gacy, placing his home under 24-hour surveillance. A search reveals the bodies buried under his house. Gacy is charged with 33 counts of murder and sentenced to death.
