Whomever (if anyone) was hired as military adviser should be hung by his heels. I am not going to list all the military screw ups as there is no time.
Story line was sort of ok though the acting is weak. And a 4 star marine general wearing Sargent strips along with his stars really???? Did anyone do any research into this??? Very bad in deed
The problem with this movie isn't so much the acting, though there are some cringe-inducing moments (but I've seen far worse)...I am convinced the main problem with 'Jarhead: Law of Return' is the writing and directing. The acting was decent with the absolutely ghastly dialogue and development scenes they were forced into. The scene where we are introduced to the pilot, "Major Ronan Jackson", through pre-flight banter with his WSO, is not only unnecessary, but extremely unlikely. There are many moments just like this throughout the film. Any attempt to familiarize us with the characters failed and there wasn't a single character that the directors were successful in connecting it's audience to. It's clear to me that the main goal here was not to write a thought provoking film, as the first 'Jarhead' was, or even a cohesive action movie, which there are too many excellent examples to list as comparisons ... no, the purpose here was the main theme of the film: anti-Iranian, pro-Western propaganda. I understand that most war movie contain pro-west war propaganda, but this was blatantly spoon-fed to the viewer in large doses. When it's this obvious you are prepping viewers for your anti-Iranian brainwashing leading into 2020, it's obnoxious.
Other reviewers already mentioned the offensively obvious military inaccuracies, so I won't go into too many details except to mention the scene in the military jets were completely unrealistic with respect to the dialogue. There wasn't a single bit of accurate pilot lingo. Again, the very basic research that is usually done by writers is completely absent from this film.
To make this slow-rolling turd even worse, the ending was anti-climactic, and again contained "the enemy is still out there" propaganda.
Any reviewer that rates this higher than a 5 cannot be trusted with movie recommendations. And please, don't even try to tell me that this is better than the first 'Jarhead'. I'm being generous with a 3/10 rating. Won't watch ever again.
I agree with many reviews stating inaccuracies and limited acting abilities. But it was not as bad as some say. Some of those 1 and 2 rated reviews are because some people think guns and soldiers are bad. Just discount them. However, there are many anti-semites out there also. I was amazed at the anti-semitic comments. Shame on them. Discount their views also.
If you are a war movie fan this one will not disappoint.
I have to laugh at all these reviews criticising the weapons or army stripes not being accurate - guys let me elucidate for you; your average viewer would not know a sergeant stripe from an a-wipe you have to laugh at these reviews.... really???? - ITS ONLY A MOVIE!
Who watches a movie and looks out for things like that is bizarre!
I watch a movie to be immersed int he plot and story not to see if sergeant Maloney has the correct trigger on his AK-47 or how tight his army troosers are cmon, to rate a movie on this is nonsense and IMDB should remove these reviews as they are just plain fatuous!
Well what do we get for our shillings - Oodles of action, some decent cgi blood splatters and explosions but some terrible dialogue which made me cringe at times. It actually has a pretty decent cast and the acting was good which makes up another Jarhead movie;and as good as Jarhead 2 in my opinion.
The music though is rather Jarring (pardon the pun) and too loud for the soundtrack and it is clear they were trying in the later stages to go for a Black Hawk Down style ethnic Israeli music backtrack to accompany the action which was better than the overbearing rap and rock & roll in the first half.
All in all its actually an above average terrorist war movie so if you are a war movie fanatic like me give it a try as it will not disappoint so gets a fair 6/10 from me.

- TriviaProduction didn't know what air base in Israel they would be authorized to shoot in so had to prep cockpit flight scenes on both the F16i and the F15 mock ups. Production Scouted Ramon Airbase but finally was allowed to shoot at the Ovda Base near Eliat because of actual operation happening at Ramon. Attack vehicles were built from Mazda 4wd frames and made to look like Polaris attack jeeps. The large attack Jeep was actually based on an experimental Israeli attack vehicle and was modified from a vehicle built for the movie "Hurricane Heist." Over 6% of Israeli pilots are not born in Israel and have actually made Aliyah has our lead Devin Sawas character Ronin Jackson did in the movie.
