Felt like a belly flop
I had great expectations and was hoping Leslie's Netflix special would be a springboard for her post-SNL career. Unfortunately, it falls flat due to the constant yelling and endless physical performances which were aimed at covering the lack of content and direction. She says she had a great time doing it but alas, she's the only one who actually had fun (laughing at her own jokes throughout).
👏🏼😂
Absolutely hilarious!! Talk about someone who knows who they are. Comfortable with every aspect of self. The ugly honest truth, right in your face! I loved it!
Thank you Leslie, you did good!!!
Research and review Leslie
There's an older recording of Leslie Jones stand up and I think its amazing, it shows you what she's capable of and how hard she works. This new stand up still is Leslie and if she was hard core in the past, she's still hard core in her 50's. I liked it because she goes hard and if you're not ready for it then it may not be your "cup of tea". She's reflective on her life and gives her audience some loud advice. Intimate, coarse and NOT a Bill Cosby and wouldn't want to be. I'd take Leslie over a Whitney Cummings any day...
Good performer makes odd choices under the supervision of non-existent Director
I like Leslie, but this may have been too raw for my taste. She needed some better direction on how to prepare the material.
Started out well
Started out strong and then petered out about halfway through with very few laughs sprinkled here and there. I wasn't offended by her or anything, it was just really poorly scripted. Some of the jokes would have landed much better if she had picked up the pace on them. The more you draw out a simple joke, the more boring it becomes. By the time she got to the kicker of a joke, I just didn't care anymore. Also, the yelling. Yelling the same line 6 times in a row doesn't make it funnier. It was like beating a dead horse over and over. I don't watch SNL so this was the first time I've seen her perform. Bc of this, when she got to the end where she talks about how funny she is, it was really cringey to watch. 4 stars are for the beginning only.

- TriviaMidway through the show Leslie takes her eyelashes off & throws them on the stage. In later scenes her eyelashes are back on then off again. It appears Leslie Jones recorded the special twice in front of 2 different audiences. There are different people shown in the audience after her lashes are back on then the audience that is there before she took her lashes off.
