A NEW WORLD: After the death of her mother, Inés Suárez lives in Plasencia together with her sister Asuncion and her authoritarian grandfather. There she meets Juan de Malaga, a merchant with whom she falls in love and with whom she marries after escaping from the family home and traveling to Seville, a lively and prosperous city, gateway to the 'New World.'

THE CONQUEST OF A DREAM: After her journey through the jungle, Inés arrives in Cuzco Peru exhausted and devastated to discover that Juan has died. With nothing and no one to tie her to the New World, Inés arranges an audience with Francisco Pizarro, Marquis of Peru, to ask him for a ticket back to Spain. But her desire to return from her will have to wait until the Carnival celebrations are over and ships are available.

DEATH GIVES MORE LIFE WHEN LESS FEARED: Christmas arrives in Cuzco, but it seems that there will be no time for peace and recollection since an Almagrier is conspiring to rise up against the Pizarro regime and threatens to blow everything up. Meanwhile, Valdivia and De la Hoz dispute the right of conquest over Chile and challenge each other to see who will be able to get there first.

THE PROMISED LAND: Inés, Valdivia and the rest of the Spanish expedition finally leave for Chile. But to reach the 'Promised Land' they will first have to cross the Atacama desert, an extensive sandy terrain that threatens to squeeze their resistance capacity to the maximum: not only will they have to face the inclemency of the area, but before them the threat of the Mapuche will also loom.

BLOOD AND FIRE: Six months have passed since the Spanish expedition led by Valdivia arrived in Chile and founded the city of Santiago de Nueva Extremadura. Since then, Valdivia has been completely dedicated to the conquest of the country, while Inés spends her days in the city alone and bored if it weren't for the moments she spends with Rodrigo de Quiroga, Valdivia's officer and right-hand man.

HUNGER FOR GLORY: After the destruction of Santiago, poverty and famine seem to have taken their toll on the city's inhabitants, since the Promised Land seems not to be such. Faced with this desperate situation, a small group of soldiers dissatisfied with the project of conquest conspires to rise up against Valdivia, who seems to live oblivious to the suffering of his own.

SEEDS OF BETRAYAL: A few years have passed since Valdivia stood up Inés and the rest of the inhabitants of Santiago. During this time, the Chilean city has become a prosperous place thanks to the management of Inés, who has had the invaluable help of Quiroga. For his part, Valdivia has been magnifying his name by suffocating a new civil war in the Indies.

TO THE END OF THE WORLD: Inés and Quiroga try to get married despite all the obstacles that Valdivia puts up for them. After the couple formalized their relationship, the governor has become tremendously irascible, who has poured all his anger and frustration into the conquest of Arauco. So much so, that Valdivia proposes a crazy plan to finish it as soon as possible and satisfy his hunger for glory.
