Seriously is it your expectations were high and so you were disappointed? Or in a bad head space when you watched and couldn't get into it? Honestly idk how anyone could give this less than, say, a 6, by any metric - I don't understand people :/
I like some, but not all of Amy Schumer's past material. While I am not a super-fan, I appreciate that she can push the edge and I always respect that even if it doesn't appeal. I thought this would be worth a look.
It didn't start well. I almost bailed during the first episode. None of the characters were likeable. There didn't seem to be any chemistry among the cast. It was just awkward. They hooked me at the end of the first episode, so we decided to keep going.
It takes a couple of episodes, but it gains momentum. The cast and crew start to get a working flow, and the story line moves between broad humor and serious issues.
It is worth watching, but you will have to be patient with it.

Like everything else it's in-between. Not super funny but it is humorous at times. It's more thought provoking than funny. The first episode was a bummer until the end and now each episode has proved to move the story along nicely and you can connect with Beth. It's doing what I hoped, make me watch the next episode.
I am confused by the dumpster fire of reviews here. I am convinced the crap reviews are from people that just hate Amy Schumer and didn't watch.
This show is much more mature and heartfelt than some of her other entries. Of course you have to like her style, but if you do you will like this show. There is a good mix of outright laughs, sadness, and some toned down comedy. It's worth a watch.

I'm not an Amy Shumer fan, but I absolutely love this show.
It's touching, funny and witty and I identify with Beth in so many ways.
Highly recommend it.

It's not a comedy but you'll get some laughs for sure. Don't go in with the expectation of light-heartedness. There's heaviness in the story but nothing we've not all experienced in our lives. Probably better suited to people in their late 30's/early 40's - I don't know that a younger audience would get it...necessarily. In my late 30's, I feel the same way as Beth. There's a layer of general disappointment. I thought by now, I'd have it all together. The big house, the kids, the husband...I got the husband...but he didn't want kids...I've switched careers plenty and still don't know where I'm going with that. I don't have that many friends - the few I keep, I am glad for but we rarely have time to just hang out. My husband is very much like John...doesn't understand social cues or whispering...but he's a solid piece of art and beauty that I can't get enough of. I've done a lot to adapt to his quirks as he has done for me. I cried at certain points, it makes you think of things that's happened to you...it makes you wish you had a better relationship with your parents but it also understands how that's not possible all the time. We all do the best we can. We all start life with a lot of hope. Kind of like a balloon that's inflated fully and looking shiny and beautiful...sparking so much joy...then the air starts to leak out of it over time and it becomes less and less bouncy...eventually...you'll need to pop that balloon...toss it out and in all your fragility with your lungs full of soot, you blow up a new balloon slowly and it's a struggle to get it to be as full as the first balloon. There are things that are behind you and uncertainty lays before you...you just have to take it one tiny moment at a time. I love the the kids running joyfully past the ceremony...looking like Beth and her sister...they are just starting their path and the "balloon" is super bouncy!
I get ppl might be over Amy, but damn if this show isn't perfect in almost every way. I was laughing so hard my mom had to come in to see what show I was watching. It's rather touching too. Really a perfect vehicle for Amy's return, and I for one am loving it. I am a single, white, 40 y/o female, so I'm assuming I am the target demographic, but yeah, I love it.

A really sweet exploration of grief in a complicated relationship, as well as a look into happiness, all anchored by some creative writing from Schumer and a darker and more muted performance than she usually gives.

Typical Amy Schumer jokes that were fresh 10 years ago. All the humor seems forced or is blatantly obvious. The storyline is as uninteresting as it is unfunny. The entire 10 season story could have been told in 2 episodes. Skip it and try to find something that's actually entertaining.

Amy will always have her "review hit squad" which is creepy to go after someone that hard that you don't even know or have ever met. I mean they act like she ran over a bunch of children or something..anyways, show is funny as hell if you like the "Louie" style self-deprecating humor. I gave it a 10/10 just because it's such a rare occasion for a TV show to ACTUALLY make me laugh out loud. And she gets extra props for bringing us back some Michael Cera.

I'm not a big Fan of Amy's work but I enjoyed this series. The supporting cast really was the highlight for me. Wouldn't mind a season 2 but I feel like this will be a one and done.
I'm neither a fan nor a critic of Amy. But dear God this is boring. And so depressing. I'm on episode 3 and I'm going to grant myself leniency now and find something else to watch. Anything else. Who needs this in early 2022? Nobody. Nobody on God's green earth.

Although I don't relate to the situations at all I felt them. This is a very honest and raw experience and it was superbly delivered. The characters were perfect and it's as if you really got to know them. The pain and joy were so authentic and written perfectly. What a nice series!

People are so quick to judge Amy Schumer. Give her a chance. People evolve and grow. This isn't her usual material. I don't think I've seen this side of her. It's serious and somber mixed with dark dry humor. It seems more adult.
So for those wondering, its really *not* her usual raunchy shenanigans. It's a woman dealing with life's various traumas, with a different sense of humor.

Always give a show at least 3 episodes before you give up on it. Just like Sense 8 and Dark, the first two episodes sucked but it gets good in the second half of the third. No coincidence that's when Michael Cera shows up. I was so ready to give up and then not only did it good, it got addictive. The chemistry between him and Beth (Amy) is great and now I don't want it to end because the story got interesting and it makes me laugh out loud.

Wow!!! I'm so glad I stumbled across this show. I've been feeling very sick the last few days and I was looking for a distraction. This show was my own personal Vicodin and helped me forget my stomach pain for awhile. I smiled, I laughed and even teared up. The show is well written, directed and perfectly cast. IT'S A MUST SEE SHOW!!!
Seriously, watch Somebody Somewhere with Bridget Everett. This show feels like a cheap knockoff of her show, they even have some of the same actors. But Somebody Somewhere is thoughtful, hopeful, inspirational, and realistic, and this isn't any of those things.
This show is disappointing, the jokes don't land if they are even jokes, it just feels like a pity party for someone who's life is pretty good but they want more without having to do anything to get more. I keep trying to watch all of Amy's stuff, everything in my head says I'm her key demographic, middle class white women, almost same age, weight issues, inappropriate, sex positive, so many similarities but none of the jokes landed.
I will say this show has a lot more famous people, it's quite the list of guest stars. It's like the one time I ordered Oyster Rockefeller from a restaurant and they covered it in sauce and after digging in I find they also breaded and fried the oysters which had turned out to have gone bad. Lots of extra stuff to make it feel like it should be great, but it's rotted at the core.

I enjoyed this show. It actually made me laugh out loud at times, which takes a lot! It's refreshing and well acted. It's a welcome change of pace for Amy who plays a more realistic character. It's charming and enjoyable.

Amy Schumer fascinates me. I watched this whole season in one sitting, which is unusual for me to do. Because I'm an Amy fan, I knew a lot was autobiographical and...good job fictionalizing the tough stuff that happened in your life, Amy.

Her comedy can be hilarious, over the top crass, and empowering. I find her softer and more real self, her director and revelatory self fascinating and highly entertaining. She has done a great job with this series and I hope we get to see more. I only knew little bits about her personal life previously, so I don't really know which parts are true and which are dramatic license, but I can see the humanity in all of it. Just having a person who looks like A PERSON with REAL PEOPLE PROBLEMS being an actor is so refreshing. I just tried to watch Nicole Kidman in a new thing and had to shut it off, even though her acting is always amazing, because I could not look at the clay mold face. I appreciate real and raw.

IMDb really needs to sort itself out. It's quickly becoming all but obsolete when it comes to looking for honest feedback or star ratings for movies and shows. If the people running it can't figure out a way to filter out the trolls and stop people from mass downgrading a rating, reach out to people who can! Why continue to gratify the trolls? They target projects the center women, people of color, LGBTQ, and other marginalized groups like it's their job. They're not going to stop or listen to reason or suddenly become reasonable people, so why not do more to stop them? I'm glad to give this show ten stars because I'm enjoying it! It's funny and has a lot of heart. I'm glad they dropped all the episodes at once because it's very binge-able. IMDb- figure it out!
