Most of the content and editing were great, but the director's interview segments were excruciating. You can actually see Gates trying to find a kind way to respond to the insipid, off point, childish questions and I kept wondering if that was the purpose because they certainly didn't add much else. Also, did Diet Coke pay for all that advertising? And the final conclusion/question/narration was not in any way useful or interesting or insightful. I hope this guy keeps making documentaries but partners with someone capable of conducting an interview and providing worthwhile commentary and analysis.
The documentary is a love story, but even so one can't feel anything but awe.
Even in a cynical world such as ours has become the transformation of Bill Gates, his growing up, through the hubris of youth into the maturity of the philantropist he has become is both heart warming and inspiring.
The man who wanted to rule and change the world has become the man who wants to better and save it.
That is true life superhero material and given his phenomenal characterstics which are his superpowers...i am impressed.
But the inspiration goes beyond. We are not all Bill Gates, neither in character nor means but we can all use our specific characteristics and skills to fight for a better world.
Bill Gates accomplishes a feat of no little means through his participation in this project. He inspires.
Thank you Bill Gates for being here.
The documentary is not perfect. The back and forth leaps through time and focus can be distracting but I can understand the artistic choice in that. All in all highly interesting...and have I mentioned inspiring?...
I absolutely enjoyed it and it kept me wanting for more! I think it is a must watch for Engineers! Being a programmer myself, I have huge respect for Bill Gates, and I had a lot of fun watching it. It showed me that Bill Gates is a smart man, and also a human who had to go through many trials, but he is a relentless optimist and has equally relentless determination to pursue what he wants.
It is so great to get a sneak peek into the greatest minds.
Imagine if Warren Buffett, Steve Jobs, or Jeff Bezos were to open their life up like this. It would help so many and show the beauty inside each of their minds.
I remember watching this mini-docu series on Netflix and truly enjoying it.
It shows Bill's upbringing, his growth as an indvidual, him in his prime at Microsoft, and his departure from Microsoft to create a non-profit (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) and become a full time philanthropist.
It was amazing to see how Bill works, how fast he process information, and even the fact that still takes 2 week breaks away in a cabin since he started to grow Microsoft in order to be isolated and gather many thoughts.
Bill's brain and mindset is tantamount to a computer in the digital age. Yet, this documentary gives a human feel as it goes behind the scenes to reveal Bill Gates new focus in life.
He is literally helping save the world. People should appreciate his work. If they don't, they will in years to come.
