This was a well put together documentary for those versed on the subject and those looking to learn more about this important point in history. It's informative, well paced and sticks to the "need to know" rather than being chocked full of filler. What I didn't enjoy (by no fault at all of the makers of this documentary) is all the dodging, shoulder shrugging and flat out excuse making for Malcolm's true assailant. Two innocent men did a combined 40+ years of prison time for a crime they didn't commit, and everybody and I mean EVERYBODY from a senator to the random person on the street basically said "so what" when confronted about who the actual killer was. It was truly infuriating to see so many people be so indifferent about someone committing such a heinous crime and never having to pay the price for it.
As infuriating as all that was, I did still really enjoy this documentary. I'm a student of history so this was right up my alley. If you have a few hours to spare, give it a look. It's definitely time well spent.

Another outstanding documentary by Netflix that is hard to quit once you've started watching it. If you like history then you will find this to be truly amazing.
Everybody knew about the Nation of Islam (NoI) organization's involvement in Malcolm X's murder, and this series again puts them in a Microscope. And rightfully so considering what they had done to one of the US' greatest Black American Political figures.
Apparently the American Law Enforcement Agencies were only too happy to have a controversial personality like Malcolm killed by his own fellow Black Americans so they made sure that most of those behind his killing got away with it.
The series also goes out and names the assassin whose weapon directly caused Malcolm's death, apparently his identity has been an open secret among New Jersey's Black Muslim Community and yet they protected him and even allowed him to have a full, satisfying life, compete with a hero's burial.
My only issue with it is that for some reason, it seems they had allowed Malcolm's assassin to die before they released the documentary. They tried to show otherwise, but I felt it was intentional, for one reason or another.
Anyway, a Must-See Documentary for me.

There's no room for lazy opinions in the review section. The research put into this documentary is overwhelmingly exceptional. I can rest easily that I now know without a doubt who killed malcolm x. I watched all 6 hours in one sitting because the story is that compelling. NYPD is to blame for convicting two innocent young men and locking them away for 20 years. The FBI also withheld evidence of their personal investigation of the true murderers from the NYPD. It's terribly frustrating that you have so much testimony and tangible evidence that confirms so many responsible parties involved and their motives to kill a legendary American figure, and viewers still sit at home in ignorence. This is a 10 star film.
A really well put together documentary. Great interviews and archived footage. The filmmakers present the information in a clear linear way. Just such a shame that guy died before they could ask him face to face!
If it at least could bring justice for those who were wrongly convicted and clear them, it worth to be praised
