    An honest-to-goodness, fun, old-timey western

You would have a hard time finding a better use for 15 minutes of your life. Superb camera work and excellent writing team up to make a fun and heartwarming little film. Jeff Grennell seems to have been made for the part. A scruffy but lovable everyman, he wins you over immediately. Tim O'Hearn as the steely eyed Sheriff lends a great counter balance to Jeff's bumbling ways. The setting in a recreation of an old wild west town lends an realism and warmth to the film that would be hard to recreate elsewhere. Whatever it takes, see this film!

A short film with a big punch

The Door is such an amazing short film, that goes above and beyond what you see in a lot these productions. The Director Tim O'Hearn pulled out a lot of stops, filming in a old western town and using professionally trained horses on set which really gave the film character and life. 100 percent worth checking out.

The Good, the Bad and the Funny

Writer/Director Tim O'Hearn brings us the short "The Door". A pretty fast moving well shot Fantasy/sci fi twist. When my friend and fellow filmmaker Tim O'Hearn approached me to take a look at his western short, I had no idea what to expect.

What I got was 15 minutes of pure well acted and shot fun. A likable nerdy man name Steve (Jeff Grennell) is introduced as an obsessed fan of John Wayne. He learns to ride a horse and on his first venture out he comes across a mysterious door in the middle Of the woods. He is projected to the old west and is living the fantasy he has always had. After first getting there and still not really respected he finds himself up against the Beast (Patrick Boyer). A violent ruthless outlaw that he was earlier warned about by the local Sheriff (Tim O'Hearn). But as faith has it he gets to rescue the damsel in distress and becomes the hero he always fantasized about.

After finally confronting The legendary beast things may not be as storybook happy ending as expected.

This was sought of like a modern day Twilight zone. It is a tight little well shot mini movie. Great story development and beautifully lensed. Sound and music is perfect and add to the project. A authentic western backdrop just adds to the fun of the short.

The standout is Steve the main character he carries the short with such warmth and humor you can't help but instantly like and root for him.

Tim does triple duties as writer/Director as has an important role as the sheriff. I hope this is just the beginning of possibly a full length western. Tim proved to me through careful framing of the western scenes he has an eye for the authenticity of the old west.

A highly enjoyable short that needs to be seen and appreciated.

    • Trivia
Writer/director Tim O'Hearn was not supposed to act in the film. The day before shooting began Steve Graf, who was cast as the sheriff ended up in the hospital. He fell off the back of a wagon during a wild west show at Dogwood Pass, the location of the movie shoot. Tim stepped in last minute to play the sheriff.
