After the death of their father,his three daughters have to confront the wealthiest man in their village(Doukas), who wants to buy their fields. Doukas' son, Sergios decides to marry the oldest daughter(Eleni) so his family will get the fields. Eleni works really hard in order to keep their property but after too much pressure by Doukas and many financial problems she gives in and decides to marry Sergios. This event will change everything in the life of the three daughters.—sophouli

The series takes place in the fictional village of Diafani in Thessaly. The Sevastos (Greek for "Augustus") family have been powerful landowners for several generations. Doukas Sevastos inherited the entire family property, after the apparent disinheritance of his brother Miltiadis Sevastos during World War II. The two brothers have been enemies ever since. Doukas (Greek for "Duke") rules the area with an iron fist, and holds power over the local politicians. But he is still greedy, and needs the lands of the Stamiris family to fulfill an ambitious plan. Early in the series (in episodes taking place in 1958), Doukas has landowner Giorgis Stamiris poisoned to death. Stamiris had no sons, only three daughters (from eldest to youngest: Eleni, Asimina, and Droso Stamiri), and Doukas believes that it will be easy to push them into selling the family lands. Unfortunately for his plans, Eleni Stamiri turns out to be a stubborn rival. She has every intention to cultivate her own land and to demand the same rights as male landowners.—Dimos I

1958. Diafani, a small (fictional) village in Thessaly -particularly near to the city of Larissa- is ruled by the big and ruthless landowner Doukas (Duke) Sevastos, with an iron fist. Next to him stand his two sons Sergios and Konstantis and many of the villagers who work for him and his family. Doukas who has a big influence on the local (and not only) politicians aspires to create a big industrial factory zone in the village. For that purpose he desires to own the whole Thessalian plain. The only obstacle in this ambitious plan is the fact that he does not own the whole plain. A little part of that belongs to the three Stamiri sisters (Helen,Asimina and Droso) who were left orphan after their father died. Eleni (the oldest) does not wish to sell her property to Doukas and she wants to maintain and further grow her family's fields. Douka's oldest son Sergios makes her a proposal which will ensure that she and her sisters are taken care of for the rest of their lives: he will marry her and she'll give him the fields as a dowry. Eleni although negative at first accepts his proposal. But at the very first night of their marriage the three sisters paint their hands with blood. His blood. After that a cycle of revenge, love and pain opens between the two families and the whole village becomes a witness to their feud with unrepairable consequences.—markordali
