Highly Recommended Watch

Traditionally I don't prefer watching short films as I find that the story or depth falls flat due to the limited time, however Queen of Magic defies that common trap. The flashbacks from the past to the present alongside Holly Curran's layered performance gives this film a feel that's more than surface level. It comes across as a small intriguing glimpse into a larger complex story- it only makes sense for it to be extended into full length. The romance explored was intimate and forbidden in a Jane Austen esc style. The defiance of oppressive gender roles and the note it ended on gives the entire story a much more broader, significant, and relevant touch.

Breaking Barriers with Magic

"Queen of Magic" offers an engaging glimpse into the life of Addison Ellery, a woman determined to claim her place as a magician in a world that tells her it's impossible. I found the plot especially interesting because it blends period detail with a timeless story of resilience, and the costumes and stage design make the 19th-century setting feel alive. I'd recommend this short to fans of films like The Prestige or The Illusionist, or to anyone drawn to stories about women breaking barriers in history, like Colette or Hidden Figures. Overall, it's a compelling proof-of-concept that left me curious to see Addison's journey expanded into a feature!

Very unique!

This short film has a truly unique and interesting plot that is guaranteed to pique many people's interest! One thing I really thought was cool about this short film was the smooth transitions between the flashbacks and scenes in present time. The short film's plot is interesting because it highlights the hardships women had to go through, especially during a time period where women didn't really hold as much status compared to men. The romantic aspect as well as the main character's passion for performing magic, challenges the gender roles of that time period, which I thought was very powerful. I would really enjoy to see the story expanded as a feature film or TV series to reflect what happens as the main character's career continues.

A Short but Brilliant Film

I think Queen of Magic is a really good short film. It tells the story of a woman who wants to become a magician at a time when women have no voice in society. I really admire how she dares to challenge authority and traditional thinking. The film also shows care and respect for the LGBTQ community, which makes the story more meaningful and inclusive. However, the film is a bit short, and I wish there were more details about the characters and their relationships. I hope it can be made into a longer movie or TV series in the future so the story can feel even richer and more complete.

Truly Inspiring Short Film for Girls

This Short Film was so interesting and motivational to watch. It shows Addison, an aspiring magician, following her dreams even when everyone around her says that she can't. She continues to fight against the odds and challenge social norms.

I like how the movie switches between flashbacks from her childhood and back to present-day life. I wish it had expanded a little more on the relationship between her and her friend.

I would love to see this film expanded into a movie or TV series. I feel like it would be an inspiring watch. I want to know more about the details behind Addison's story.
