Paintless (2021)
The presence of God is proven after his Second Coming. A young painter invites the priest whose job is giving people approval for committing suicide and meeting God. In order to persuade him, she explains the reasons why her life does not have meaning anymore, describing her inner struggles, health issues, and unfortunate events. As we follow the conversation between these two, more surprising details come up, and it becomes more clear that something about her story doesn't add up. This drama is a thought experiment that takes place in a world where there's no more uncertainty, faith, or mystery. "Paintless" explores the place of an artist in such conditions and true ownership over their creation. Shot in Los Angeles in early 2020, this short film stands strong on two powerful performances and challenges its audience to unveil each layer of the puzzle. It is not a story about religion, it's a story about finding new meaning in existing and creating.
