its the ...

Ha-ha-ha canonade of verbal comedy eruption, with so much nitwitty philosophical reflections on love and life, in art and sports. It starts as a road trip and ends in the courts, not the judge's but the tennis court, and to call this a sports movie will be an insult to the sport, and to call it a comedy is also an insult of comedians, and if you name it a romantic love story among the best, youre high on something.

I had one abrupt laugh in 98 minutes and that maybe cause im old and grumpy a man, it flows just at the average with nothing new or original, not nescessarily a low budget flick, but it makes you fatigued on daft and silly jokes, that mostly harrash the human race of irishmen, and the script and screenplay tailored for the two young main caracters in such away you feel like there are two standup comedians standing on each side of the court throwing words of love, wisdome agony and hate at one another. It tries to be intelectual but its not that funny but they are smooth like a criminal on their acts.

Shall i recommend this for the quirky libertarian theater skidder? No .

Game, Set, Snooze

I rode the wave of the writing and acting but this crashes way too many times. I looked for the happy ending, but again the writing, acting and direction falls flat. The only brightness in the film is the tennis play. Very well done. The male announcer is beyond ridiculous! I suggest you spend the 90 minutes you'd waste on this, and call a friend or loved one.

Not written by a player, but not bad

Tennis players will watch this and immediately realize it wasn't written by a tennis player. Consult with some pros and use the real terms! Moonshot, upstroke, left, and right are not words ever spoken on a tennis court lolol. Even non-players know how silly this writing was. Also, the tennis world is super generous so it wouldn't have been tough to get some cameos.

Forced Irish jokes that fall flat and some art direction issues- like where is their gear/racquet bags etc??

It's not horrible otherwise! Solid 5.5 rounded to 6.

Almost 100% trash

If the studio hired a good screenwriter, and asked that person to write five or six witty scenes, and the scenes were well acted, and then the studio hired the worst screenwriter ever to finish the plot ... the studio would end up with this movie.

And the tennis is awful, the players don't move or hit like professionals at all. When the opponent gets beat, falls and rolls into the net ... its like being at the circus.

Some of the atmospherics around the tennis are realistic. And the male tennis announcer is like the guy from Best in Show, except that otherwise this movie is not trying for Best in Show humor.

And the "special effects" were done by someone with a TRS-80 and about a half hour of budget, and bear no resemblance to anything.

I'll give the actors credit though, they were not the problem. But they were also not the solution.

Tetters On Double Fault Quality

Enough intrigue to avoid an unforced error. Enough with the tennis puns already; what about the plot? A young man with a peculiar knack for numbers believes he can help a pretty tennis player improve her game. Being young are carefree, he embarks on a road trip to simply go give her this advice. During his road trip his car breaks down in a quaint small town and the generous people plan to fix his car but it'll take too long so they let him borrow their tow truck to complete his journey and the pretty young mechanic's daughter comes along for the ride so she can visit an at college nearby the tournament venue. Will he be able to influence the tennis star's game and will this tag along painter girl be quirky enough to slowly grow an attraction to the numbers guy or will she be jealous of his on court action with the tennis star? This is a dialogue focused movie (dialog tried almost too hard that it felt forced) with a charming story and the key story points are rather preposterous but this is a RomCom so just roll with it. It had a couple nice establishing shots but mostly it was dry cinematography.

Confusing. Poorly written. How did this film get green lit?!

Not one genuine, believable moment of dialogue. It's as if 25 writers wrote each scene independently and then just spliced them all together hoping they would somehow make a film. One of the most disjointed movies I've ever seen. In addition to truly bizarre plot points for the main characters, there are random, rude filler characters throughout that say and do nasty things and have no connection to the actual plot. You keep watching hoping it will all finally make sense. It never does. There's nothing the actors could do to make a bad script better. Don't waste precious hours of your life watching this film.

Fun road trip movie

Great story with beautiful shots on the road and in the city. It's nice to see really talented actors in the lead roles that are new to the big screen. Supporting roles were very good. Plenty of laughs as well as heartfelt moments. Seeing this movie in the theater was a pleasure. I'll see it more than once.
