Drew Bedford (Kerr Smith) says his biggest heartbreak was Steve Bartman. Bedford is referring to the controversial incident that took place on October 14, 2003 in a postseason playoff baseball game between the Chicago Cubs and the Florida Marlins.

The Cubs were leading 3-0 in the 8th inning of Game 6.

With Florida batting, Luis Castillo hit a ball toward the left-field stands. Moises Alou (Cubs) chased the ball, attempting to make a catch in foul territory. Cubs fan Steve Bartman deflected the ball, spoiling Alou's catch attempt. The umpire ruled no interference occurred, so the potential 2nd out, which would have gotten the Cubs closer to a win, was not recorded and the inning continued. The game turned around for the Marlins, likely due to frustration over the incident, and Florida scored 8 runs by the end of the inning, eventually winning the game 8-3. The loss forced Game 7 which the Cubs also lost.

Many fans blamed Bartman for the loss of the game and for ending the Cubs' run toward their first championship in 95 years.

When Stella hoses down the inside of the martini glass, she is actually diluting whatever trace was there. This makes it difficult to test for anything. If she is looking for diatoms, there will be two different types, unless the sprayer solution is made of distilled water, which has no diatoms. Again, there are problems when looking for anything, even under the microscope.
