Image
NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises Chairman Luis Fernandez is spearheading an executive shuffle and a restructuring of Telemundo Studios in a bid to amp up the company’s scripted content for both linear and streaming platforms.

“At a time when Telemundo is the most-watched network in prime time, we are super-charging our scripted content production under one strong brand: Telemundo Studios,” said Fernandez who returned in December to Telemundo where he was previously head of the news division for six years before taking a hiatus.

“For almost two decades, Telemundo has led in the production of Spanish-language content made by Hispanics for Hispanics. With this streamlined structure, we are doubling down on our commitment to serve the Latino community with the best scripted content across all platforms for years to come,” he added.

As part of the restructure, he has promoted entertainment and content strategy head Ronald Day to president of entertainment...

Image
Bennie (George Lopez) struggles to connect with his daughter's gringo boyfriend in an exclusive clip from How the Gringo Stole Christmas. The film highlights the absurdity of prejudice and the importance of having an open mind toward all people. How the Gringo Stole Christmas drops in theaters on Friday, December 1, and it will also be available on digital and VOD the same day.

“Family meeting in the Mexican home right now!” That’s how Bennie (George Lopez) overreacts when his daughter, Claudia (Emily Tosta), comes home for the holidays and surprises him by bringing her gringo boyfriend, Leif (Jack Kilmer), along. Papi hates surprises, though! And it’s clear that Bennie is having a hard time connecting to Leif in this exclusive clip from How the Gringo Stole Christmas, which you can watch above.

Even though Leif appears to be a promising video game designer, Bennie is more interested in...

Telemundo YouTube Channel Passes 10M Subscribers, Tops Among U.S. Broadcasters, Giving Marketing Boost To Network And Peacock
Image
Exclusive: NBCUniversal-owned Telemundo has surpassed 10 million subscribers to its main YouTube channel, a higher tally than any other channel tied to a U.S. broadcast network.

The shared model of the Google-owned platform has delivered the Hispanic media brand meaningful revenue from YouTube. But its main value has been as a targeted marketing vehicle, especially given the firm embrace of digital technology by Telemundo’s core audience. The potency of the network’s YouTube presence is now being mobilized for the national launch of Peacock this month.

Eight of Telemundo’s 11 YouTube channels have at least one million subscribers. The mother ship is now at 10.6 million, up from 1 million in 2015, and the next-biggest, one dedicated to court show Caso Cerrado (Case Closed), is approaching the 10 million mark. The total portfolio is at 35 million and counting.

In an interview with Deadline, EVP of Revenue Strategy & Innovation Peter Blacker said...
