Misses the mark.
Film begins with veteran trying to desperately get back on to a military rotation and expedite his service based on medical. He is granted his wish as long as he can transport a dog with ptsd across the country to a funeral. What follows is road trip that strengthens bond between dog and master. About half way however it starts to seriously drag on and on with some pretty terrible corny unfunny jokes and a painful story that lacks depth. Channing Tatum begins with a serious kind of depth to his personality that is watchable and relatable but then as the scenes move from one corny joke to the next we lose any kind of sympathy for him.
