I enjoy romcoms, i enjoy teen crude humor, and as i watched the trailer for this movie it peaked my interest. Ultimately i feel they had some good ideas, the performances are fine, but the movie at its core needed something more.
The lead actress who plays Avery was great. She is beautifull and charming, but at the same time i could believe the geeky part. Her performance was what kept me invested in the movie. Her costar who plays Larson was also totally fine. They had good chemistry for where the movie was going.
But this is mainly a movie about these 2 characters, the majority of the rest of the cast is there mostly for "extras" and a few funny scene, wich one landed pretty well for me, but you rarely feel like they are "organicly" in the story if that make any sense.
Movie revolves around Avery and Larson "experimenting" sexually to compile data for her app, wich is her science project for some contest call Stem or something like that. They use some metaphor to illustrate the sex part and overall it worked. Some were funnier than others, but you had a pretty good idea on what was going on without having to show anything "unapropriate".
That said the movie use one of my worst pet peeve, wich is a woman keeping her bra while she has sex. Unless it happen in the bathroom of a club or something, nobody would keep their bra on while getting all naked for the rest. I get that the actress likely didn't wanted to go topless, wich is fine, but they could had use some creative camera work to make it look like she was.
Without spoiling anything, where the movie lost me was during the third act. I had some decent fun in the first 2 but wasn't much into where they were going in the third.
But at only 90 minutes, it was fine for a single watch. I would definately like to see more of Mika Abdalla who plays Avery, but its not a movie i will rewatch or that will stay in my mind.
