Samuel L. Jackson, Annette Bening, Jimmy Smits, Kerry Washington, and Naomi Watts in Mother and Child (2009)

FAQ

Mother and Child

FAQ

I believe the young boy in the picture is the father. At a certain point in the film the mother encounters a man from the past, she has sex with him and tells him she never felt for anybody else what she feels for him. I believe he is the father

EDIT: It's a childhood photo of Naomi Watts, the actress who plays Elizabeth.

Since the Naomi Watts character is 37, one assumes her adoptive parents would be in their 60s or 70s, so it would be likely that at least one was still alive.

Edit: At the beginning Elizabeth told Paul that her adoptive father died, when she was 10 and her adoptive mother and her are not close, so she is supposedly still alive.
