    So informative and compelling

Absolutely loved it!!! Being a lover of the breed and having one myself this was such a great film to watch. It was beautifully shot and really pulls on your heart strings. A lot of great information and really shows that breeding should be left to the experts. My only thing is I wish the breeder that had been showcased had been someone who bred to the standard of the breed and not the fad colors that is currently harming the breed. But showing how difficult it is to breed them and whelp pups should be something anyone wanting to get involved in breeding should see. And Michael and his crew really showcased this beautifully.

Absolutely compelling doc that treats a complex subject with respect!

From the visually compelling title sequence to the highly personable subjects (both human and canine) to the respectfully balanced showcase of different perspectives surrounding the ethics of French bulldog breeding, Incline Productions' "Whelp" is a masterful example of a documentary that packs an emotional punch while also letting viewers draw their own conclusions. I laughed, I cried, and I learned so much from this documentary. Highly recommend this to anyone.

    An emotional, intimate portait

This is a worthwhile documentary as an educational summary of a controversial topic, but more importantly a thoughtful view into the lives of it's subjects. Absolutely worth your time and attention, especially in an era where we increasingly focus on superficial appearances and social media clout. It's important to think about the long term real life consequences of what we're doing. I think "unbiased" isn't really possible for any documentary, but Michael manages to present a very comprehensive and nuanced view and gives the viewer room to come to their own conclusions.

Take the time to watch. You might learn a thing or two, and you'll definitely feel a thing or two.

    A must see documentary !

This documentary was raw, real, heartwarming, and heartbreaking all rolled into one. The film was beautifully done!

I felt every emotion it presented to us .. the highs of joy as pups were delivered, to the lows of witnessing their loss..going from happy tears to sad tears.

I commend the family for giving us the opportunity to see it played out in real time .. in real life! Frenchies are a fascinating breed and much loved and the world is a better place with them in it!

I highly recommend this beautiful film ..kudos to the producer!

    Both sweet and subtly provocative

I enjoyed this up-close exploration of the people and sub-culture surrounding the French Bulldog, now the #1 dog breed in America for three years running. If you love these dogs (and it's hard not to), you will resonate with the passions of the owners interviewed and the breeder whose work is intimately featured. There are some poignant and sweet emotional moments, both canine and human, captured by the camera. And, oh those puppies! But, the documentary also honestly and sensitively addresses the very real ethical concerns with this breed and the health problems that can be perpetuated and worsened by wrongly motivated breeders. However, the film makers allow the viewers to evaluate for themselves on these questions, as most good documentaries do. A recommended watch for dog lovers and for those who like a deep dive into an interesting subject.
