Dollhouse

FAQ

One website that lists tracks is http://tvshowmusic.com/shows/dollhouse.html

Yes, it was rumoured that one engagement for the Dollhouse would be Echo playing a costumed superheroine who along with her nubile sidekick is captured and enslaved by an evil mastermind in true comic book fashion. The twist being that the evil mastermind is also an Active and it's actually the girl playing the sidekick who is the client and this is her fantasy. The idea was dropped but caused rampant speculation when Joss Whedon was going to do a revamp of Wonder Woman that he would cast Eliza Dushku in the role. Other rumoured engagement scenarios would have included Echo as a motorcycle cop who has sex with a client playing the role of a speeding motorist she stops, a client hiring a choir of Actives to let them live for a day in a real life musical, a victim of homophobic bullying as a teenager hiring the Actives to give their tormentor a taste of their own medicine by creating a world where straight people are the persecuted minority. Also we would see Echo cast as a Warrior Queen in a live action 'Dungeons and Dragons' fantasy.

In many episodes there's a reference to Battlestar Galactica.

Tahmoh Penikett (Paul Ballard / Karl 'Helo' Agathon) plays in both and every other episode some actor from BSG comes in in a guest role, there's Mark Sheppard (Tanaka / Romo Lampkin), then Michael Hogan (Bradley Karrens / Col. Saul Tigh), then Jamie Bamber - this time with his native British accent (Martin Klar / Cpt. Lee 'Apollo' Adama). I've only got to the start of season 2 and I wonder who else from BSG will appear.

They also use "frakking" all the time, a word invented for BSG, and in Season 1, Episode 1: Ghost someone suggests a fatherly figure should be like Edward James Olmos (Admiral Adama in BSG).

    So, what's the connection?

I only found one author that worked on both, Jane Espenson, but officially she only wrote 2 episodes of Dollhouse, and was a consulting producer on 8 episodes.

The bigger connection, however, is likely the simple fact that Joss Whedon has repeatedly professed his love of BSG, stating that it is one of his favorite tv shows of all time.

We see 41 although in Epitaph 2 she refers to 101. These include; streetwalker, besotted fiance, damaged goods assassin, rehab girl (Echo), biker/bondage girl, hostage negotiator Eleanor Penn (Ghost), sweet chubby chaser girl, adventurous outdoors girl (The Target), bodyguard/backing singer (Stagefright), midwife, safecracker (Grey Hour), Esther the zealot (True Believer), Joel's fiance Rebecca (Man on the Street), dominatrix, spyhunter (Spy in the House of Love), Adele's friend Margeret (Haunted) recovered abused girl, whitetrash princess (Briar Rose), undercover agent/bride (Vows), nursing mother (Instinct), kinky student Kiki, Terry Kerrins (Belle Chose), art fan (Belonging) happy hooker call girl Bree (The Public Eye) cheating sister in law (A Love Supreme), GI Jane Echo (Stop Loss), Paul Ballard (Epitaph 2). Sierra has 13 personalities, Victor 11 and November 3

It's possible, Buffy/Angel and 'Cabin in the Woods' all feature otherworldly threats and secret government organisations (The Initiative trying to exploit them, The Conspiracy trying to appease them and Shield trying to combat them). Humanity may have left Earth to establish the Firefly/Serenity colonies after the 'Cabin in the Woods'/Dollhouse apocalypses and this would explain Paris being in ruins at the end of Alien; Resurrection. We also have the doll Miss Edith belonging to vampire Drusilla from Buffy/Angel in the basement in Cabin in the Woods and Thor glimpsing the three figures dressed as a Wolf, a Ram and Hart in his dream in Avengers; Age of Ultron, Wolfram and Hart being the villains from Angel.
