"Eye of the Tiger" was wanted for the closing credits but it was too expensive, so they wrote their own theme: "Cry of the Cougar."
The painting at the end is signed "Heffernan". Kevin Heffernan's brother is the artist.
The movie was made during the Writer's Strike of 2007. It was allowed to be filmed since the writers were not in the Writer's Guild.
Lance Henriksen plays a television producer named Dick Lobo; this character is supposedly based on Law & Order (1990) creator Dick Wolf. Lobo means wolf in Spanish.
