I was fortunate enough to see this film at a film festival before it was released, and WOW!! I was so impressed by the quality of this film! The storyline, writing, acting, and cinematography are all excellent. It's rare to find an independent film of this caliber; not to mention, a Comedy/Horror that perfectly meets the expectations of both genres. The quality of the film, in every aspect, makes it feel like something you'd expect from a high-level studio like Blumhouse, IFC Midnight, or A24. I was blown away! I have no doubt that this film will be a cult classic. If you love films in the horror genre-independent or large studio-you'll dig this movie! Can't wait to see what Director Sean Haitz and this team produce next!
Indie filmmaking always brings out the creativity, and Cannibal Comedian is no exception. A horror-comedy that blends stand-up with slasher mayhem, this film delivers on absurdity, dark humor, and over-the-top kills. If you love campy, blood-soaked fun with a side of twisted jokes, this one's for you. The practical effects are gruesome, the comedy is unapologetically unhinged, and the lead performance is hilariously deranged. It's a wild ride that won't be for everyone, but if you enjoy splatter flicks with a punchline, you'll eat this up-literally.
There's also some charm and heart to be found here not typically found in B movie slashers.

Not Only Was I One Of The Actors In This Film.... but This Film Is Beyond Anything I Would Expect From A Indi.. The Cinematography Is Superb π―, The Story Line Is Awesome, & The Actors Are Excellent... Charlie Is On The Hunt For His Next Meal.. and He has Friends Who Helps Him Find His Next Meal. My Character (Vic) Is The MC Of The Comedy Club Where Charlie Finds Himself. Now If You Wanna Know What Happens When He Gets There, Well You'll Jus Have To Go Watch The Film... Please Please Give This Film A View(s) , and Please Give This Film A Rating... We Thank You All For Your Continued Support. Thanks π
Stumbling upon the 2023 horror comedy "Cannibal Comedian" here in 2025, and with it being a movie that I had not already seen or actually heard about, of course I opted to watch it, as I am a fan of all things horror. And I will say that the synopsis for the movie definitely made it sound like an interesting movie.
Writers Sean Haitz and Stephen Ward put together a fair enough script and storyline, which made for a watchable movie. It was an entertaining enough movie, though it was not a particularly outstanding or memorable movie in my opinion. There just simply wasn't enough contents to the storyline to make it a noteworthy movie. The movie suffers from the pacing and the construction of the narrative. It was generally lacking forward thrust and the red thread was sort of difficult to find.
I was not familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, and that is actually a good thing, as it is something I enjoy when I sit down to watch a movie. And I will say that the acting performances in "Cannibal Comedian" were good.
The special effects in the movie were good, and they definitely helped spruce up the movie nicely. And there were enough blood and gore to keep an old gorehound such as myself happy.
Watchable, for sure, but this movie doesn't warrant more than a single viewing.
My rating of director Sean Haitz's 2023 horror comedy "Cannibal Comedian" lands on a four out of ten stars.

Cannibal Comedian is a wild, blood-soaked thrill ride that blends razor-sharp comedy with gut-wrenching horror in a way that few films dare to attempt and even fewer succeed at. This film is a must-watch for fans of both genres, delivering gruesome practical effects and side-splitting humor in equal measure.
At the heart of the story is Charlie, a weary cannibal who's grown tired of his life of flesh-eating and decides to chase his dream of becoming a stand-up comedian. The concept alone is brilliantly absurd, but Cannibal Comedian takes it to the next level with clever writing and an inspired performance that makes Charlie both terrifying and oddly relatable. His journey to comedic stardom is anything but smooth, especially with club owner Carrey constantly stealing jokes and standing in his way. Their rivalry is both hilarious and intense, leading to moments of darkly comedic tension that will keep you glued to the screen.
What really sets this film apart are the spectacular special effects. The gore is top-tier, offering the kind of practical effects horror fans crave-gruesome, detailed, and executed with love for the genre. But instead of being purely grotesque, the violence often comes with a punchline, creating a uniquely entertaining experience where you're laughing one second and gasping the next.
The director, Sean Haitz, masterfully balances horror and comedy, making Cannibal Comedian a standout film that delivers thrills, chills, and plenty of laughs.
