It's bitter and sweet and also really funny. Women reinventing solidarity and community. This feels so grounded and full of real pathos. Want to see more like this!!

This is a deeply touching and beautiful film! It is lovely to see a film that focuses on women supporting women. It is very empowering. Elyan is not only a talented director, she's also an exceptional screenwriter and story teller. I love how all three characters help each other transform and grow in the film, and how in skillfully telling the story, the director engages the audience in a way that is subtle and non-manipulative. I for one was very aware of how my perception of, and reaction to, the character Lamia changed over the course of the film.
The director (and cinematographer) has a very strong visual sense and the film is beautifully shot. The fluid camera movements are lyrical. The camera often lingers on little things and move from object to object and person to person (especially in interior shots) that tell us a lot about the characters and the stories of the spaces. The acting is superb and the story is well paced!! It is overall a very satisfying viewing experience!

I was watching this at the Malmö Arab Film Festival (in Sweden) and I was so taken by the characters and their stories. Watching the movie surrounded by people who knew the setting and was laughing with recognition or sighing with despair made the characters and the culture come to life even more. It is a story that celebrates the strength of women, but it also tells about every day life, the past and the present, love, the complexity of parenting and much more. This movie brought joy and light to my heart. Especially the little boy who so often smiles against the camera (since he is the producer's baby boy) adds an extra dimension of warmth. I really recommend it for all to see, and we need more of movie's like this as a counterweight to the perfection of Hollywood. Well done to all involved!
Beautiful storyline and excellent cinematography. Characters really resonated with me, any woman can relate to these women. Excited to see what comes next from this director. Saw it at Austin Film Festival which never disappoints. If you only see one film this year, definitely see this film. Really authentic story that is a good mix of comedy and drama. Great to see a mostly female cast. I've seen many films this year but this one really moved me. To see such strong and powerful female characters is always a treat. I know we're going to see more amazing films from this director. Truly beautiful story.
Such an uplifting film that touches on human vulnerabilities and experience. Very humbling at the same time uplifting ,,, well done to the director and film cast !
