Brie Larson and Utkarsh Ambudkar in Basmati Blues (2017)

Trivia

Basmati Blues

Edit
The film was first shot in 2013, but not enough scenes to make into a film were made because final stages of the production coincided with monsoon season, forcing the filmmakers to raise more money and do a reshoot, which took place in 2015.
By the time re-shoots began in 2015, Brie Larson had just completed "Room" and there was nothing in her contract that required her to come back, but she returned along with nearly all the cast and crew.
Donald Sutherland picked up the cost of his wardrobe himself.
Utkarsh Ambudkar initially bombed his first audition, but eventually won his role thanks to his improvise background and chemistry with Brie Larson.
Directors Dan Baron, Monique Caufield and co-writer Jeff Dorchen hadn't previously seen any Bollywood films prior to making the film, so they did a movie marathon featuring films such as Awara, Dil Se, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Khamoshi, and Lagaan.
