If you've ever read any of my other reviews, you will know that my number one pet peeve today is the latest trend in lighting, or rather lack thereof. It's like every modern filmmaker dropped out of school before they got to good lighting techniques. After seeing this... those movies look like professional jobs! For five minutes we sat in total darkness while people talked. Everyone had a flashlight, but somehow, the light emitted defied all known conventional laws of physics. You could see the light of the flashlight, but it was unable to illuminate a single element of the scene.
Even before this, though, this group of friends was standing outside in broad daylight and you could not even see their faces for the shadows. Another director that thinks neutral density filters with no fill light equals "nighttime".
The "acting" of this motley crew was deplorable. I've seen better actors in the local kindergarten Christmas pageants. Seriously.
Unless you are atoning for some egregious sin, run - do not walk - as fast as you can from this pisspoor excuse for a movie.

I saw the cover art and thought "This is probably pretty good." I couldn't have been more wrong. This is 224 minutes I'll never get back, but after an hour we were determined to see it through, as "maybe it gets better?" We made it the through the first bit just laughing at the terrible acting, facial expressions, camera work, lack of plot and general badness of it all. This Hightower Jr. Guy should be embarrassed. His acting, directing, production value etc is sooo bad, and of the credits, 70% go to him, apparently he did everything, and like another reviewer mentioned, it's very much giving "Filmed on the original iPhone in 2007." During the last hour of the movie there are literal white spots on the camera lense. Really low quality movie with ZERO scare factor or redeeming qualities. I've seen amatuer porns with better acting and production value.
This is so bad. I've never seen a movie this bad. I was using it as background noise as I use my phone because I knew it was going to be bad. I didn't expect this though. I was shocked to see it was released this year. It gives 2010 vibes. Like it was filmed on a phone at the turn of technological advances for phones. The lighting was horrible. It was a scene where every single person in this film was standing outside and there was a flashlight on one persons face and everyone else was pitch black. They could've held up a flashlight in the air to light everyone since a porch light wasn't available. They also did not remove mistakes from the film. There were at least two times in the same scene where someone forgot their line and there was a brief pause as we waited for them to find the line or move on. They could've cut 1.5 hours off this 2.5 hour movie to at least bring this movie up to a current decade. The actors/actresses must've came from Wish. That's crazy that they really thought we wanted to be tortured for 2 hours.
Everything that makes a movie a movie was bad. The acting could have been better if you just randomly picked people off the street. There was no cinematography because there was no film. It was shot by a cheap video camera, maybe even an I phone. The script was impossible to follow and went no where. There was no editing, they just left the bad scenes in there because there were no good scenes. The social effects were laughable. The music was done on a synth and didn't fit the plot. There was literally nothing good about this movie. The only reason to watch it was to see how bad it could really get.
This is a very amateur film with many flaws. I do not mean to be unkind, but I have to be honest. The acting is awful, the scriptwriting is awful, the filmography is awful, the plot is awful, and the effects are awful. Example: in the opening sequence, a girl runs face to face into a demon, and barely reacts. She speaks in deadpan tone: it is totally unnatural and unrealistic.
It is below B-horror. I might give it a W-horror ranking if I had to. Please do not pay to watch this amateur schlock. I'm sure the friends who made the film enjoyed it, and I am glad for that and that matters, but for any viewer, it is just awful.
