We must be grateful to Ajay Devgn for bringing an Aviation Thriller into the scene

Runway 34 feels like an amalgamation of two different films with two distinctive approaches; while the first half of the film as an out and out aviation thriller brings forth a palpable screenplay that elevates the tension and the uncertainty, the second half on the other hand played more like a conventional courtroom drama dissecting on the unfortunate tragedy.

If I were, to sum up, my personal experience in a few words, I would say the first half is magnificent in every sense. The way the whole thing has been set up, how both the screenplay and the narrative make use of the surroundings to uplift the anxiety; it's exceptional, out of this world! And I'm not even exaggerating, the initial half of this film alone set a pretty good example of how aviation stories must be written and carried out, and that too in an effective manner.

As far as the latter half is concerned, it is mostly dialogue-oriented with little to no room for elements of suspense or thrill. However, what makes this comparatively timid and uneventful part click is the performances. Both Mr. Bachchan and Mr. Devgn had performed to their respective capabilities. So did Rakul Preet Singh; speaking of which, this might be her best work up until now!

So is this a perfect film? No, but this is an all-important endeavor nonetheless that will play a decisive role in what's to come in the future. It has the power to shape and reform the genre as well as to aspire to the next generation of filmmakers who might wanna do films on such challenging themes. And for that, we must thank and be grateful to Mr. Devgn who as the producer/director of this film has taken all the necessary steps and risks and spared no expenses to turn his vision and notions into reality. Kudos to the team behind the Visual Effects too, as they have demonstrated some stunning imageries.

P. S. That whole landing sequence with the song "The Fall" (by Jasleen Royal) playing in the background, was an unreal exhibition of cinematic excellence and dexterity. Goosebumps were all over my body!

Runway 34 SULLIFIED by Devgn in the best possible way!

I wasn't expecting an Indian version of "Sully", but even if it is, it is really a good one. A benchmark for aviation thriller in Bollywood and also a very risky venture that paid well in the end.

This was something that I had been hoping from Ajay Devgn for quite a while. Terrific piece of work!

A good movie, except Rakul Preet acting

Movie is really great, interval is mind blowing, but climax is a little low. Everyone's acted so good except Rakul preet, her acting and emotional tears doesn't make sense. And if pilots like her take care of flights then I am not gonna fly :). Ajay's acting is amazing, and his direction is really good. VFX is mind blowing. I'll rate it 8.5/10. A must watch.

Not sure how accurately the actual incident was depicted, but as a movie " Runway 34 rocks , or maybe I should say aims for the sky and actually reaches it "

Less imaginative second half

Less imaginative aviation courtroom drama brought down gripping airborne events in first half, mainly powered by vivid cinematography and great visual effects. Despite occasionally rough direction, Devgn as lead actor made pleasant landing to please his audience.

Excellent Story, Performance & Direction

I was amazed to see an Indian version on the lines of Sully. Its not something i have seen in Indian Cinema but Ajay Devgan carries it off and the end result is top class.

Loosely based on what happened during the Doha Kochi JetAirways flight, the story is to the pint and keeps you hooked till the end.

The first half focusses on the flight, the VFX is first rate.

The 2nd half is the enquiry and Ajay & Amitabh keeps you hooked with some amazing performances.

There is not much to do for the others though.

Amitabh is as usual mesmerizing from the time he is on screen and gives another fantastic performance.

Ajay devgan does an excellent Job with his performance both on and off the screen.

Why should it always be the pilot's fault

You are a gifted pilot, on a plane from dubai to cochin. You are weary and homesick, the weather is ruthless, visibility is poor and fuel is scarce. Yet you manage to save the lives of 150 people. So why are you being systematically interrogated as if you are an offender? Why should it always be the pilot's fault, if things go awry? Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn are excellent in #Runway34. Running time needs to be reduced by 15 minutes. Rating 3/5.

Not good but....

It is my deepest request and prayer for bollywood to stop copying Hollywood movies. This movie is absolutely plagiarised, it has parts of Movie "FLIGHT" and also some parts of "SULLY", i even felt few over dramatic scene from SNAKES OF A PLANE.

So its a copy, that settles that but then again you can always make a good copy but this copy wasn't even that good. Apart from Mr Bachan's Acting which was also not necessary, everything was so fake.

And what about that attitude shown by CAPTAIN in the movie, i mean that wasn't needed to a level that it feels rudeness.

MAKE YOUR OWN CONTENT, STOP PLAGIARISING.

Excellent thriller

I was super excited for this movie because of the excellent star cast and it totally lived upto my expectations!

Ajay Devgan has done a tremendous job and so has Amit ji, as you would expect. It's a great thriller (won't give spoilers) and will keep you glued to your seat till the end!

Watched a movie after 2 years in a theatre and was absolutely worth it! Great production and viduals! Must watch!

Absolutely loved it!!

Booked the tickets for first day , first show!

And definitely not regretting my decision! From the screeenplay to the acting everything is just too good!

And so is the story line. The way Ajay Devgan deliver he's dialogues it will surely give you goosebumps!

And Nakul is on the other hand too sweet to handle .

In short it's a perfect movie to watch on the weekends with your friends and family!

A must watch!!!!

Ajay Devgn for the first impresses as a Director

Ever Since the release of Singham, except for Rascals & RRR, I have seen all the films that have starred Ajay Devgn. But after Singham's release there has been a decline in the quality of films, with a few exception like Tanhaji, Raid & De De Pyaar De, that the actor has acted in. In terms of qualitative films the actor is getting back into the groove.

Coming to the direction Back in 2016, i was awaiting for the release of Shivaay, but to my disappointment, it turned out to be too confusing as well as unrealistic. One would have similar apprehension if one would have compared Runway 34 with it. Surprisingly with Runway 34 the director in Ajay Devgn has directed quite a superior film which is on par with the top directors of Hindi film industry. In fact i would eager to watch more films directed by him in the future.

In Terms of Performance, Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan, the veteran stood tall, with their performance. While the supporting actors enacted their parts well.

In terms of story, The excitement shown in the first half could have been matched in the 2nd half if they had trimmed some scenes. Otherwise it can be ranked as one of the best thriller movies of the recent times.

****An Aviation joke****

The film makers have no idea of aviation industry. They should've atleast followed closely one episode of Air Crash Investigation to get some information how an Air Crash Investigation works.

The movie is simply absurd. Bollywood is way behind in Aviation movies. All actors played lazy roles. Rakul preet is only taken to cry.

Visuals effects are little better but not as good as Hollywood or Korean movies.

Movie also show many scene stolen from movie Flight by Denzel Washington.

Overall, could be used for a 1 time watch.

Guthka-Man take on Danzel Washington and Tom Hanks

I salute the courage of the acting challenged actor director. He has taken the job to replicate both Danzel and Tom Hanks. Unbelievable !!!!

I again plead to you with folded hands, please leave the OTT for the talented and creative artists. You Bollywood kids and relatives, please show your talents in big screen and television.

Movies For The Audience Of High Class Multiplex Cinema Hall. Not For The Masses

The movie is a suspense thriller movie. The story and screenplay are very good. There is no such thing as a boring scene. Ajay Devgn's acting and his direction is very good. There is no good music or background music in this movie. This movie is usually for high class viewers. The general public will not like this movie.
