Enrique Escarpita playing Mike and Ryan Pikofsky as Sean play good roles in this short. There is barely any dialogue because Mike, although not hearing impaired, is mute.
Sean's a rough hetero and makes that clear from the start. Nonetheless his expressive face, coupled with that of Mike's, drives the film to an optimistic conclusion.
The film is more than "Glances". It's about longing and connection, a connection that succeeds. However the glances that lead up to Sean's smile at the end were full of meaning.
Who knows what happened after the film's ending? Sean has a girlfriend. But I hope Mike got more than a smile from him.
