Renowned director Oni Sen, known for his work on the popular web series “Asur,” has been chosen to helm this project. The series will be produced by Sanjay Routray, Sarita Patil, and Dikssha Jyoti Routray under the Matchbox Shots banner. The show will depict the Iaf’s historic 47-day operation, executed in collaboration with the Indian Army’s ground forces, aimed at dislodging Pakistani troops from Indian positions along the Line of Control. This operation, launched on May 26, 1999, involved precision airstrikes using fighter planes, attack helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles to clear high-altitude enemy positions.

Set in the holy northern Indian city of Varanasi, the psychological thriller series with mythological elements stars Warsi and Barun Sobti as forensic expert investigators engaged in a cat-and-mouse-game with a serial killer. “Asur: Welcome to Your Dark Side” streamed on Voot in 2020. “Asur 2: The Rise of the Dark Side” moved over to sister streamer JioCinema and began streaming in June. Gaurav Shukla, the creator and showrunner of the recently released second season of the streaming show ‘Asur’, has shared that the team didn’t establish a traditional writers’ room for the second season until the overarching story was locked.

The second season of the show was released after a gap of three years because of the pandemic. Directed by Oni Sen, ‘Asur 2’ stars Arshad Warsi, Barun Sobti, Ridhi Dogra, Anupriya Goenka, Amey Wagh, Meiyang Chang, and Gaurav Arora.

Talking about the challenges, Gaurav told Ians: “The pressure we encountered was both internal and external. It came from the platform, the actors, and even from within ourselves. We were determined to surpass the achievements of season 1, and it took some time for us to develop the central plot. Additionally, writing during the lockdown presented its own set of challenges, as our writer’s room was primarily utilised for troubleshooting rather than full-fledged brainstorming sessions.

Actor Barun Sobti, who recently wowed the audience with his acting skills in the thriller web series, "Asur: Welcome To Your Dark Side", says a lot changed after the success of the show.

In an interview to Ians, Barun opened up on how people changed their perception towards him and spoke about the need to raze the divide between television and the film industry.

"A lot has been changed after 'Asur'. Firstly, more work has started coming my way. People now recognize me as a different actor. Generally, many have this notion that ‘TV se hai, pataa nahi kar paayega yeh role ya nahi'. With 'Asur', I feel I have been able to tweak their mentality a bit," he said.

Barun, who rose to fame with his role in the TV show "Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?", also emphasized on how talented people work in the small screen industry.

Barun Sobti is one of the most popular actors in the television industry. The handsome looking actor gained popularity after his stint in the show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon as Arnav Singh Raizada.

The 34-year-old actor got married to his childhood sweetheart Pashmeen Manchanda. The two realised that they were in love when they went to college.
