So I just finished watching it and thought I would go ahead and read the reviews. I not sure what to think. It is a fever dream of a movie. I still am unsure what I watched, but by about 40 minutes in I was very tired of the "80s" cliche terms. Why was all of the dialogue was steeped in them and it was annoying. Was it because they were false memories? Idk. The acting was mediocre by all, even Dee Wallace, whom I love. I feel like there were just too many ideas wrapped up in this story. Definitely not sci-fi which was a shame. Alternate universe stories are hard to tell. I think there was just too much going on. I get it, new film makers have to go through some growing pains. I don't want to discredit the hard work that it takes to make films. Just keep going, not everything can be a winner.
Do I think the concept was terrible? No. The execution was bad, and the acting was absolutely awful. The only good thing about this movie imo is Reginald VelJohnson, I love him so much but this movie was not it I fear. It was super underwhelming and the sci-fi aspect didn't show much like I had hoped, I could not keep my eyes on the movie and enjoy it. I think it could've been better, just overall wasn't good. And the kids in the movie had so much potential I think. I do think they could be better (sorry I'm just rambling for the required character minimum) not worth the watch I don't think, but I'd honestly like to see a better remake with the same concept.
This movie was a horrible waste of time. I should have read the reviews first! Cheap production. Poor acting and worse script! As I watched, I kept trying to convince myself there was something good moments away. Nope. That never happened. It is "dramatic and suspenseful" to the extent that the scenes and timeline continually shifted, compelling you to believe the girl's timeline (her life) was being artificially shifted, perhaps by aliens. I still don't know if that was the case or not. The radio tech uaed to "communicate" with the aliens was a CB. Really!? As the closing scene rolled and faded, I realized I had just wasted 2hrs of my life. Please, I beg you, DO NOT WATCH THIS!
I was disappointed once again to be tricked into watching a movie I thought was a SciFi, but ended up being something entirely different. The synopsis states: "Following a nuclear attack, a girl receives a distress call from space that leads her on an extraterrestrial journey". Well, there is no call from space, no aliens, and no extraterrestrial journey. This is classic bait and switch, and it is not the first movie that plays the trick of calling itself a SciFi when it is not.
The movie disguises itself as a SciFi, but is actually a psychological drama. It takes an hour of movie watching to finally come to this realization, but by then you have been suckered into it.
There should be a law against passing a movie as a certain genre, when it is not.

I'm shocked this movie was ever made! Sometimes a B movie has bad acting but a great storyline so you continue to watch it wishing the right person with the right amount of money and contacts has the chance to produce it.
This .. this has neither!
It's a D movie at best. No storyline, beyond horrible acting, a purely pathetic attempt at every point of making a movie.
I honestly think the only reason a couple of the known actors did this, was either a HUGE FAVOR to someone or they lost a bet.
We TORTURED ourselves to finish the movie so that I could leave an honest review of the movie and not the first ten minutes that already had me wanting to run!

- TriviaAt 51:17, Mayday responds on the ham radio, "Everything is fine here; situation normal, no kids, we're fine here now, thank you, how are you?" This echoes Han Solo's speech in Star Wars after they break into the detention block.
