This film by Jessica Hinkson is deeply appropriative of illness and disability while casting an entirely unsuitable able-bodied and privileged lead actor for the titular role. The performances by Samora Smallwood are inauthentic and over-reaching at the best of times - she is just another thin, mediocre woman who is only getting onscreen work because she is able-bodied and thin. She was not interesting or compelling to watch on screen and it would have been much more interesting and authentic for Jessica to cast a disabled or real-sized actor in the lead role. Work by the supporting cast was much more authentic and grounded, and the production design was adequate. Have to rate low because of the miscasted lead.
