Beastly (2011)

Trivia

Beastly

Edit
Neil Patrick Harris wore opaque contact lenses so he would actually be sightless when they were filming.
In retellings of the "Beauty and the Beast" fairytale, the main female character (the "beauty" of the title) often (though not always) has a name that actually means "beauty" or some variation thereof. For instance, in both the 1946 Jean Cocteau version and the 1991 animated Disney musical, that character's first name is "Belle," the French word for "beautiful." In this version, the main female character's first name is "Lindy," a variation on the name "Linda," which is also the Spanish and Portuguese word for "pretty."
Mary-Kate Olsen's last acting role before retiring from acting.
Alex Pettyfer shaved his head completely for his role and underwent 5 hours of prosthetics makeup each work day. Pettyfer remained in character (and makeup) off-set during the shoot as an experimental exercise to see how "outsiders" would react when, for instance , he would purchase miscellaneous items in regular stores in the Montréal neighborhoods.
The film was originally slated for release in 2010, as advertised by earlier promotional materials. However, it was pushed back several months to avoid competing with Charlie St. Cloud (2010), a movie starring Zac Efron whom Vanessa Hudgens was dating at the time. This move however was thought to have contributed to its poor box office turnout.
