I watched it on its own on the 24th, and yesterday, I watched all, GI movies and GR togethet. The locations, the music, the story is as always faithful to the book. The acting was excellent, Giulio and Melanie really pull it off, and the rest of the cast, were great. Natalie was a real piece of work.. I don't think any of it could of been better.
How honored are we as fans that Tosca Musk has made the Gabriel Inferno, Rapture and soon to be Redemption films? We would never get such a true and accurate reflection of these books if it wasn't for Passionflix. I absolutely cannot wait for part ll and lll!!!
I loved the first three movies, and this one was all right, but honestly the farther into the story you get, the more annoying Julia's character gets. Have to admit I haven't read the books, but whiny female characters are definitely not for me, and she only gets whinier as time goes on. I won't add spoilers, but she's immature, naive, and her expectations on Gabriel are unrealistic. I've also never seen a single grad student behave like her. Maybe a freshman. Gabriel is seriously sexy though, so that partially makes up for the annoying female lead.
The first movie in the series is better, but that isn't saying much. The high scoring, favorable reviews for this are fake. This is basically the same movie as the first one but watered down a bit. The first was more convincing in portraying the forbidden love between professor and student. This movie plays on the same theme but skips more of the drama and gets more into the sexual tension and romance. It's an embellished female fantasy of having a handsome, wealthy suitor who lavishes attention and fine dining, etc. without having sexual demands in return. There is a LOT of suck face going on, and it gets tiresome after a while. The movie does capture some of the same mood as the first one, so if you particularly liked the first one you might like this. But it mostly just plays like a bad harlequin romance novel.
Just like Inferno, everything was beautifully done. Acting, directing, cinematography, story. Only minor things are left out for timing. There are 4 books total in the series, I've read each one 9 times and have been a fan since 2015. Giulio and Melanie have off the charts chemistry you've never seen on screen before. (This is often why some people in the fandom wonder why they are not a real life couple) My only complaint was that Part 1 stopped at the end of Chapter 11. There are 2 more films and 59 total chapters in the book, the next 2 parts will have to be longer as there is so much more to cover. Any book fan knows we haven't even scratched the surface of the roller coaster of this book. I look forward always to parts 2 and 3.
