I am enjoying this show more than I expected

Good episode, some story and character development, some very funny parts and cannot wait for the next week after the cliffhanger.

LOL. This episode is coming into its own.

The writing is really really good. This episode had so many 1-liners I lost track. I am glued to Resident Alien.

Lots of melodrama, very little plot (or sense)

One thing that continually annoys me is that the writers obviously do not know anything about the world they themselves created. The alien appears as human because he changed his appearance to look like a human (molecular restructuring, as he says). He is not really a human, he is not inside a human body. So why should he have human reactions and emotions? Why would he suddenly need to sleep and start to dream, when in an earlier episode he says that his species does not sleep? That is like saying that a human who had plastic surgery to look like a shark could suddenly breathe under water. If you start to think about this show, it falls apart. But it simply doesn't have enough jokes to take it just as a brainless comedy, and it obviously takes itself more seriously than that, but unfortunately it can't rise to its own standards.

This episode continues the trend from the previous one - lots and lots of filler, tiny morsels of plot advancement, even less sense. Most of it is just unimportant filler, and at the end there is an event that furthers the plot, but again, it is not enough to salvage the episode.

    Laughed out loud several times

I am loving the humor in this series! A bit dark, embarrassing even, but somehow human (?!) The kids are surprisingly well written and acted. And the stories aren't shallow, there's some character depth, too - this is not just a sit-com.

    Really interesting cliff hanger...

    So much laughter!

I was laughing out loud a lot. This episode had parts that seemed more suspenseful than other episodes somehow but only for brief moments. The kids were great and Harry had Alan Tudyk's perfect timing so he was hilarious.

    • Trivia
Harry (Alan Tudyk) gazes at his home world's sun "still forty-six light-years away", a bright star below the Big Dipper where no bright star is known - a bit of visual license by the creators (or perhaps Harry's sun is especially prominent to alien eyes). Though its position in the sky is slightly off, Harry might be talking about 47 Ursae Majoris (Chalawan), a yellow dwarf star forty-six light-years away and known by astronomers to have at least three planets.
    • Goofs
A spider weaves an orb web as Harry ( Alan Tudyk ) looks through it into the sky - during a cold winter night in Colorado, when every spider in the wild is either dead or hibernating.

The pilot episode begins with the line "It is spring"; and this is a short period of time later. The ice on the lake has thawed allowing boats to dredge, people are wearing lighter coats and not having to cover their faces and hands, the snow is receding, people can play basketball and lie in the dead grass of a field at night without their breath being visible. And wildlife is waking from its hibernation.
    • Quotes

Harry Vanderspeigle: [voiceover] Hmmm, this is interesting. I've never experienced this before. Nobody is talking. Apparently you can be with other humans and still be alone. I like it.
