Stop asking for so much and enjoy good tv

Netflix is notorious for having a sort of "cringey" feel to their originals. Myself, as well as anyone you ask, we're skeptical about this show. The first two episodes in my opinion were great (reviews agree). The only hate I've seen is towards this show regardless of the side plays is this ep. I disagree. I think the Kaya casting was great. Usopp casting is absolutely phenomenal and he was who I was most skeptical about going into the adaptation. I also feel that this episode really adds to zoro and makes his character in this series so much more in tune with the true manga/anime adaptation. The introduction to Arlong also nipped any reservations I had towards that character/adaptation of said character directly in the bud. Extremely excited to see where this series goes.

    Hard to get through

I found this episode very hard to get through. It was painfully obvious what was going on. The whole function of this episode is to set up the next episode. The next episode is great. But this episode is just one massive cliché. There was more than one moment when I just had to skip through some scenes because they were way too predictable and cringe. Which isn't a great combination.

What did I like about this episode? The characters. What did I hate? The plot.

There was some interesting stuff going on the the B and C plot, but the A plot was just awful in the extreme. Still, I'd recommend just powering through this episode so you can watch the rest of the show which is quite good.

    Ok 👌

Generally .. The series is on the rise and the narrative of the events is very interesting .. There are moments in which there is a big deviation from the anime and there are moments in which the exact same dialogues, but what I like the most is that no matter how different the events, we all finally reach the same result .. The thing I like the most is the dialogues are written correctly .. The results and results are still balanced and promising .. I liked the performer of the role of Usup, it is clear that he understood the character and studied it correctly, even the way he talked to Kaya and his actions, everything was great in him, although I hate him in the anime, but he performed Usup in a good way ... The flashback with his mom was the worst of the worst, it was only 5 seconds and the kid is obviously not affected by the death if his mother, it's the opposite of the anime ... But most of the things in the episode go astray, I like that they put the bear in hiding, as we often see in the anime, I'm sure it's Oda's touch .. In general, a good episode pulled me throughout its run, and I hope the series will continue on this approach.

Not as great as one and two

Episodes one and two left me wanting more but this one not so much. The main cast made a strong showing and stayed true to the source material. This even made me feel sorry for Usopp. His back story is kinda touching. Klahadore was believable as both a butler and a pirate. Sham was fun. Kaya not so much. The set designs really gave it that B horror movie feel. Zorro's back story and episode story lines were well done but, they needed to fix the hair dyes for the younger versions. They fell kinda flat but it might have just not worked with the lighting choices. The condensing of story lines was well meshed. This series has the potential to be one of the best renditions of a live action anime.

    Syrup Village (Part 1)

Syrup Village isn't the best arc in One Piece. In fact, it is often ranked as one of the worst, and rightfully so. It is filled with not-so-useful characters and cringey quirks that are more annoying than entertaining. It is not surprising that a lot of changes are made; some for better, some for worse. In this first part of the adaptation, we get to meet Kaya, Buchi, Klahador and Sham, as well as Usopp and Merry. Jacob Romero is very charming as our Sharpshooter in a nonchalant, childish sense. The other characters are... forgettable. Kaya is still sweet and lovable, but feels to cartoony, just as the other characters. I'm glad, at least, that some changes are made when it comes to the fate of minor characters.
