This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
Life has never been easy for the X-Men, or any mutant in the Marvel Universe. They’re feared and hated, oppressed just for being alive. They’re betrayed time and again, even by heroes who call themselves their friends.
But in the history of the X-Men, there are three stories that stand out as particularly heartbreaking: Mutant Massacre, E is for Extinction, and Fall of X. And the latest episode of X-Men ’97 just combined them all into one shocking half-hour full of deaths.
“Remember It” begins as a love letter to all things X-Men, as Magneto, Rogue, and Gambit head to the island nation of Genosha. Once the home of an oppressive human regime (modeled in the original comics after Apartheid South Africa), Genosha has become a home for mutants, a sovereign nation under mutant rule. Director Emi Yonemura and series creator Beau De Mayo...

Weapon X-Men #1 Writer: Christos Gage | Artist: Yildiray Cinar | Colourist: Nolan Woodard | Letters: Clayton Cowles
This was a lot of fun and I am not concerned to admit that my enjoyment of this really caught me off guard. I get sucked into anything with ‘Weapon X’ in the title and sometimes in the past that has burned me. But wow this was so much fun! That is high praise indeed seeing as it doesn’t really involve any alternate Wolverines I hold a soft spot for. Okay Old Man Logan is tried and tested, but I feel he has been overused. Here he is presented perfectly as like a Lethal Weapon ‘I’m too old for this shit’ Wolverine. Then we have Weapon X from Age of Apocalypse. That four-issue mini-series is a massive blind spot for me, but I am certainly tracking it down after reading this. In this story...

On Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé mixes R&b, country, and some hard-hitting guitars, among many other elements, and as the artist herself is well aware, there used to be a name for that kind of American melange: rock & roll. She slyly acknowledges that fact with two Chuck Berry moments on the album, including a segment of “Maybellene,” his first hit, in which a Black genius helped invent rock & roll via revved-up country.
So, there’s an argument that Cowboy Carter — which the artist has made clear is a “Beyoncé album” rather...

This article contains spoilers for X-Men ’97 episode 4.
Rising from the ashes of X-Men: The Animated Series like a Dark Phoenix, X-Men ‘97 has done a stellar job of bringing fan-favorites like Scott, Jean, and Wolverine back into the fray. While Marvel Studios’ producer Brad Winderbaum has revealed that production is already underway for seasons 2 and 3, some sneaky hints suggest that the lineup of this colorful cartoon caper could soon look a little different.
The Original X-Men
X-Men ‘97 has largely stuck with the series staples of X-Men: The Animated Series, albeit with the additions of Morph and Bishop while swapping out Professor Xavier for a reformed Magneto. Several Easter eggs have referenced both old and new teams, with the season premiere reminding us the current roster is far from the original lineup of Charles Xavier’s Gifted Youngsters.
A nostalgic picture of the “original” team is on display at the school.

The fourth episode of "X-Men '97" is, in fact, two episodes crammed into one. The first half, called "Motendo," is about Jubille (Holly Chou) being teleported into Mojoworld where she is forced to fight inside a violent video game at the behest of a TV goblin named Mojo. The second half, called "Lifedeath, Part 1," follows Storm (Alison Sealy-Smith) after she lost her weather-controlling superpowers in the previous episode. It was quite a blow for Storm who was essentially a goddess. Now a mere mortal with no mastery of the elements, Storm is approached by a character named Forge (Gil Birmingham) with a proposal that they team up for an unspecified mission.
Forge had previously appeared in "X-Men: The Animated Series" (voiced by Marc Strange) as the leader of X-Factor, a separate team of super-mutants. Forge has the uncanny ability to intuit machines just by handling them, making him the world's greatest mechanic.

What kind of birthday gift do you buy someone who likely already has everything they need or could ever want? According to Jack Whitehall, you get them a poem. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, the British comedian and actor celebrated Harry Styles’ birthday — an unofficial national holiday — with the gift of a few stanzas about One Direction splitting up and Simon Cowell’s ever-changing appearance.

If you're an "X-Men" fan, you should be listening to the "Cerebro" podcast. The host, literary agent/"X-Men" historian Connor Goldsmith, and a guest (usually an "X-Men" writer or fan of some repute) discuss a chosen character — both their history and why they resonate.
The 101st episode of "Cerebro" (released May 2023) featured comic writer Jonathan Hickman, who relaunched the X-Men comics alongside artist Pepe Larraz in 2019 with intersecting miniseries "House of X" & "Powers of X" (the latter pronounced like the number 10). For the episode, they discuss En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse, the most infamous X-Men antagonist not named Magneto.
Writer Louise Simonson and artist Jackson "Butch" Guice created Apocalypse in 1986 as the shadowy villain for their book "X-Factor." He was revealed to be an immortal mutant, possibly the very first one. Born in Ancient Egypt, Apocalypse has shaped the curve of history to Herbert Spencer's survival of the fittest ethos.

When you think of Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 ultraviolent crime thriller- Robocop (watch it Here)- does your brain jump straight to horror? After all, what makes a horror film? Or better yet, what made a horror film in the 80s? If you ask me, a dark sci-fi style noir film with brutal kills, body horror, excessive drugs, and, of course, even some Tna- is well suited to be on our list of iconic horror films that deserve to be praised and properly deconstructed.
Over the years, Robocop has grown to be a rather difficult franchise to get ahold of. With multiple sequels, a failed remake, and a recent hit video game- it’s safe to say that the movie that spawned such a vast catalogue must be incredibly interesting. And I’m happy to say- that it is. Robocop is a movie that packs action, suspense, political satire, Identity crisis,...

Zayn Malik is promoting his new single “Love Like This” and spilling some tea on the reasons he left One Direction.
As Malik gets back into the spotlight promoting his new musical release, the X-Factor alum made an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast and talked about his time in the boyband he was in for five years.
“I completely, selfishly wanted to be the first person to go and make my own record, if I’m being completely honest with you,” he said on one of the reasons he left One Direction to pursue his solo career. “I was like, ‘I’m gonna jump the gun here for the first time.’ I’m a passive dude, but when it comes to my music and my business, I’m serious about it and I’m competitive. So I wanted to be the first to go and do my own thing.

It’s certainly a good time to be a Taskmaster fan. Series 15 had one of the best casts yet, becoming an instant fan favourite (and making the top 5 of our series ranking), and series 16 has a seriously promising line-up. Channel 4 has confirmed we’re getting at least six more series of Taskmaster-y goodness over the next three years, and the show is even getting its first spin-off: Junior Taskmaster, fronted by former Taskmaster alumni Rose Matafeo and Mike Wozniak.
Now that Junior Taskmaster is confirmed, there’s been a rumour that there’s a second spin-off on the way: the culinary-themed Foodmaster. If rumours in The Sun are true (!), there’s a pilot in the works already for this foodie version of the show, but Greg Davies and Alex Horne aren’t on the menu.
What if this is true and – more importantly – what if this is just the start?...

When you’re recommending a spooky movie to your friends, how would you get them interested in Insidious (watch it Here)? How would you describe what it’s about? Maybe you’d go straight to the obvious and explain that It’s another haunted house movie with demons and kids making creepy drawings. Or maybe you’d describe it as a story about a kid who gets caught in a paranormal mind-wrestle with a monster who wants to possess his body.
In either case, you’d be recommending a movie that sounds appealing, but lacks a certain uniqueness. See, Insidious is a far more interesting film that we often give it credit for. It’s a creepy, haunting, and even (at times) deep...

Question: What makes the hero of a good story worth rooting for? Are we looking for a tragic backstory that forces us to sympathize with them? Do we need to see our hero lose everything so that we can wish for them to gain it back with interest? Is it the underdog with good intentions who seemingly has flaws that any audience member can relate to? Or could it be that what makes a hero is having the most lines and the most to do in a scene? Either way, if a hero talks like a hero, and seemingly behaves like a hero, but is completely motivated by their own agenda and personal gain – are they still a hero? What if this...

When she purchased it last year, the transaction made news given that the home is situated in the same neighborhood as her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
The single-story estate is a contemporary Mediterranean style with tile, clay and concrete. The home’s equipped with seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a heated pool, home gym, movie theater, wine cellar and a separate maid’s quarters.

Simon Cowell‘s got a very specific reason for why he’d be on board for another run of “The X Factor”, and if Britney Spears would rejoin him in that venture, even better.
When Et’s Will Marfuggi spoke to Cowell in November at the “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars” finale red carpet event in Los Angeles, the famed TV personality explained why singing competitions like “AGT”, “The X Factor” and “American Idol” are absolutely necessary, even in a digital age where anyone can find stardom on platforms like YouTube.
In short, there’s a ton of undiscovered talent out there, and therein lies the purpose of the singing competitions and the driving point behind Cowell returning to “The X Factor”, which is reportedly in talks about a revival on NBC.

Louis Tomlinson has admitted to feeling some “envy” over Harry Styles’s solo success – at the beginning, at least.
Tomlinson and Styles, of course, began their careers in the X-Factor-formed boyband One Direction alongside Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne.
The group disbanded after five years in 2015 and the singers embarked on separate solo careers.
“When One Direction split up, I was mortified, I was absolutely gutted,” Tomlinson told The Times in a new interview.
“I was a bit bitter, I suppose because it just felt like another loss to me. But I’ve a better understanding of things now, and there’s not as much anger. It is what it is.”
Asked about Styles’ “ascendance into the biggest star of his generation”, Tomlinson replied: “Well, it’s not a surprise is it? We were always aware that Harry fit that mould, and it’s been an amazing thing to watch.

Comic book artist Lee Moder, who co-created the Courtney Whitmore version of Stargirl with Geoff Johns in 1999, has passed away, according to ComicBook.com and statements from his peers. The web site cited a family friend, who indicated that Moder died quietly at home sometime on or before January 15th. No cause of his death was given. Moder was 53.
A TV series based on the Stargirl character ran for three seasons on the CW, ending last December. DC’s Stargirl followed Courtney and her stepfather Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson) as she leads an unlikely group of young heroes to take on the legacy of DC’s very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America. Johns served as showrunner, and executive produced the series with Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
Moder worked in the comics industry for nearly three decades. In that time he drew titles like Legion of Super-Heroes and Wonder Woman at DC.

Whether on a stage or in a recording studio, Freddie Mercury was a force of nature. As flamboyant as he was talented, he had a knack for capturing people’s attention, whether it was with his voice or his stage presence. As a fan of Queen and Mercury, Rami Malek knew this, and that only made his job more difficult when he was cast as Mercury in the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. Malek told us that, having watched so many of Mercury’s performances, he found that Mercury had one performance superpower that he knew would be difficult to duplicate. Winter is here for the Chinese entertainment industry, a half-dozen top-tier industry professionals concurred in Beijing at the launch last week of Tencent Entertainment’s annual data-filled white paper.
China’s box office hit new heights in 2018, raking in about $9 billion, but it was also a year of drastic regulatory changes and a government tax crackdown that have spooked investors and put projects across the country on hold.
“Why call this period a ‘cold winter’? In 2018, 20 film and TV companies saw RMB160 billion of stock market value evaporate, while eight saw their valuation fall by more than 50%. The departure of capital has also made the entire film industry encounter unprecedented difficulties,” said Bona Film Group CEO Yu Dong, who was present to receive an award for “trending movie figure of the year.” Bona-backed “Operation Red Sea” was the top film at the Chinese box office last year, grossing more than $530 million (RMB3.65 billion).

As a spinoff of ABC’s long-running ’80s comedy “The Goldbergs,” “Schooled” had a surprisingly rough time getting greenlit by the network. Persistence eventually paid off, but unfortunately, the result isn’t worth the wait. The mildly charming but confusing show that airs Wednesday is a clear result of its long and messy path to the airwaves.
“Schooled” began as glint in co-creators Adam F. Goldberg and Marc Firek’s eyes in November 2016 when they developed the idea for the spinoff, which eventually was ordered to pilot. ABC officially passed on the pilot in May 2017, but after much urging by Goldberg, the network agreed to air it as a backdoor pilot in January 2018, midway through Season 5 as a special episode of “The Goldbergs.” The episode performed on par with the rest of the season.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May took their “Top Gear” expertise from the BBC to Amazon Prime Video in a three-season deal that was signed with an earlier regime at the streamer. With the new series, that agreement will have run its course and reports have suggested a reworked version of the format focusing on the travel and adventure film segments of the show will follow in its wake.
Whether Amazon will put more gas in the tank is being discussed. “Genuinely, we love working for Amazon and they made it absolutely plain they love working with us,” Clarkson said at a London event for the new season. “We’re very popular on the feed, so we’re talking now about the future.

Sunday night’s launch of the latest season of “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” on ITV has become the U.K.’s most-watched show in 2018, eclipsing recent BBC smash hit “Bodyguard” and everything else on British TV aside from live coverage of the World Cup soccer tournament.
The series debuted in the U.K. in 2002, and while the likes of other reality-tv staples such as “Big Brother” have run out of steam, “I’m a Celebrity…” still appears to be firing on all cylinders. The launch of Season 18 averaged 11 million viewers in a tough Sunday 9 p.m. slot against “The Little Drummer Girl” on the BBC and had a peak viewership of 11.9 million, or a 51% share. The knockout numbers marked a five-year high for an opening episode of the show.

Mel B opens up about her December 2014 suicide attempt, and immediate regret about it, in her new memoir. The 43-year-old Spice Girls singer, former X Factor U.K. judge and America's Got Talent judge had mentioned the incident in a 2017 court filing against her now-ex Stephen Belafonte, who she had accused of abuse and with whom she shares the youngest of her three daughters. In her book Brutally Honest, set for release on November 27, Mel describes her suicide attempt in more detail, recalling the aftermath of swallowing 200 Aspirin pills. "'Now what's going to happen, Melanie? Stop!' As soon as I'd swallowed that last pill, I knew I didn't want to go...

In “Creed II,” Michael B. Jordan, all hardened fury and wounded tenderness, reprises the role of Adonis Creed, the ardent bruiser who’s got boxing in his blood as much as his father, Apollo Creed, ever did. The movie is a sequel to “Creed,” Ryan Coogler’s astonishingly vibrant and soulful 2015 spinoff/reboot. But you could also call it the eighth “Rocky” film. And maybe because Coogler opted out of this one, and the script was co-written by Sylvester Stallone (with Juel Taylor), “Creed II,” far more than the first film, feels like it’s drawing heavily on a 40-year-old franchise.
Taken on its own terms, the movie is a rousing and effective sequel, with a couple of surprise punches and, mostly, a lot of smooth feints and jabs you’ve seen before. But if you compare it to, say, the second and third “Rocky” sequels, with its larger-than-life villains,...

As usual, it was then left to the four judges to decide the contestants' fates.
